Citroen looks to be a force to be reckoned with next year. Should be a good show with a team that looks to give puegeot a run for it's money.

Has one manufacturer ever won every event?

Does anybody knows how independent Citreon and Pugeots are, both in corporate structure, and in motorsports?

Since they belong to the same company, it's similar to Pontiacs racing Chevrolets in NASCAR.

Sainz deserves a good ride, but Citreon can suck a lemon!

Citroen's are incredibly good cars, and now with experienced drivers and co-drivers, they can develop like mofos to get their cars up to and past the Peugot level

!?!??!?!
Citroen's are far closer to the bleeding edge than Pugeot and _realy_ far relative to Fords front! Pugeots 206 is neering the end of its inovative life cycle in comparison to Citroen; bear in mind WRC manu rules confine the registrars works cars based on fact models. The 206 is ~dated, the focus is dated ( relative to the dev around the citoen ).
Note, as far as I know, Sainz is still test driving the Xsara, there is no formal agreement; additionally, last I saw ( a week or so ago? ) Citroen had 2 registered cars for the term, unles they pay the HUGE fines to late reg, or the new WRC rules take effect soon ( ? ) it doesnt seem like he will be pulling a full season, regardless.
Please make me wrong!

Citreon and Peugot are part of the same company, it was pointed out before it's like GM cars racing each other. Citreon's car is so good because they are benefiting from the Peugot's success. And I doubt the 206 is ending it's life cycle, it does'nt matter what the road version is like the WRC has almost nothing to do with it's street counter-part and it is still the best car in the series.

Default Carlos yes, Luis ..... no :(

Luis Moya is saying goodbye to rallying .....

"Sainz splits with co-driver Moya"

Long partnership comes to an end

Sainz will join Colin McRae at Citroen, but Moya won't .....

The longest-running partnership in World Rally Championship history has come to an end after Carlos Sainz's co-driver Luis Moya announced his decision to quit in the wake of the Spaniard's deal to drive for Citroen in 2003.

Moya's reasons are financial. He claims that his salary would have been cut in half at Citroen from what he earned at Ford.

"We haven't been able to agree on a financial package," Moya told the Spanish press. "I've never been the best paid co-driver and I've never looked to be, but I'm not going to co-drive at any price. I don't see why I should be paid the same as a co-driver at Skoda."

"I know that I will never win a world rally again" Luis Moya

In 14 years, Sainz has competed in 165 world championship rallies, only four of them without Moya by his side. Their 24 victories makes Moya the most successful co-driver in WRC history.

"The split hurts and the same is true for Carlos," Moya added. "I know that I will never win a world rally again. But I'm going to think about my two children and my future."

His replacement will be Marc Marti, who partnered Sainz in his first test for Citroen earlier this week. The veteran's deal with the French make has yet to be announced officially.

So are they revising that phrase that goes something like; The Co-Driver wins the rally?

Glad to hear good news for Carlos, though!

I thought I heard earlier in this last season that the comming year might be the last for Sainz... Is there any meat in there?

Default Darn tootin...

Grist an Moya doing the commentary?

We'd all do nothing else but watch all the rally coverage we could get! It would be great though since we'd actually get a nice background on rally in general.

(has anyone reccomended this to SPEED yet, It would be cool though and might help "sell" the coverage to the average joe nascar. (ecept the average joe nascar would stil complain bout
the accents.))

Moya talks 100 mph! I like Nicky doing the commentary though. You learn more listening to him in one show than you do Ralphy-boy all season.

Citroen has the best looking car of the bunch.

And C. McRae said earlier last year that he thought Citroen had the best performing car as well, but then again at the time he was still working the deal so he may have just been kissing up.

Unhappy

Wow! I can't believe Moya's gone. That's a hard one to take. I really enjoyed listening to him read off pace notes at an unbelievable pace. It disturbs me that Citroen wouldn't give a Co-Driver like that the compensation that he deserves. It really is unfortunate.

Unless Jamie's very fluent in Spanish I think she'd have an aweful hard time understanding his notes.
