Default 30K mile service cost?

Car and Driver reported their 30K WRX service cost them $300. But some letters to the editor that said that people had been paying $500-600! C&D's response was to make sure the dealer wasn't tacking on unnecessary services.

My question is, where in the South Bay do you take your car to be serviced, and how much do you pay?

How are you guys doing spark plugs on these things? Are they pretty easy to get to? I thought they were buried...

On a side note, I tried to change the plugs on my blazer and found out they are physically impossible to get to without dropping the engine... how's that for job security?
