Question Santa Cruz Dealer extended warranty

Hello All,

I currently have no mods, and don't plan to have any that will alter the engine/drivertrain. I was getting an oil change at SC, and saw a sign that said extended warranty, up to 100,000/7 years, and it was for like 1300+. I was curious to get your feedback on this. The deductible is 0. Talk back to me!

That extended warranty is like a bumper to bumper warranty for 7 years or 100k miles. The reason they don't call it a bumper to bumper warranty is because there is a few thing that it doesn't cover, like tires and brakes.
Basically your normal wear and tear stuff is not covered under that warranty.

I don't know about you but I would not hesitate spending $1379 on a $20k+ investment. Not to mention that it also covers your rental and lodging if your car is out of commission.

Hey Charlie,

Am I correct in assuming that this warranty extends the factory warranty to 100k, it's not an additional 100k on top of the original? So you're not really buying 100k, you're buying an extra 40K?

I don't have links to the older threads, but back in March/April there was a long discussion about the pricing of these warranties. Since you can buy the extended coverage from any Subaru dealership, shop around - you can save hundreds. People were emailing out to 5 or more dealerships with something like "I want the 100k/0-deductible warranty, what is the best price you can offer me? I am emailing several other dealerships and will go with the best deal. Thanks."

Sorry I don't have the thread around any more... I know there was a Subaru dealership back east that was giving I-Club folks excellent deals on the 100k/$0.
