Thumbs up VIs carbon Fiber hood from Worldone.com

Just wanted to post a firsthand review for those interested in a carbon fiber hood

First off It came double boxed very nice and took a good 30 min to unpack. Thus the hood and scoop were in perfect shape. Just read a post in the for sale items were a guy was selling a CF hood with a 4" crack due to shipping- wont be happening here. The hood does not offer very much weight savings over stock at max 2-3 #s. The look is outstanding - I am very conservative when it comes to my car so a cf hood really scared me. Well there is very little bling blig to this hood. What do I mean let me explain I have seen a few other CF hoods on other types of cars for comparos. When compared to the others this thing looks like it was 2-3 times the price. The resin coat is very thick and the 3d effect of the weave fools you into thinking that the weave is burried under .5" of resin clearcoat. Everyone who has commented on it said "that looks expensive". Also there is not a big contrast between the weave overlap as some others which are aimed for max flashiness - In fact this fits on very well with my black car and when the sun hits it right there is a silver hue that Id imagine would look fantastic on a silver car.

Fitment is great But I will be the first to say that this is not a plug and play affair. Sure it bolts to the car just fine and even latches as well as the stocker but Im talking about all the underneath rubber trim and fasteners, scoop splitter attachments. These are not cut out for you but are clearly marked and outlined. They require some work with the dremel - I think you know why this takes some effort on your part Cost!! a person would need to cut it just like your doing and then we couldnt afford this hood because id be mega expensive. Anyway with a little time and patience All will go smoothly and the underside of the hood will look very much like stock. In fact I recomend this for saftey as I drove around for about a week without the stock air diverter in place and the middle of the hood would flex with fast moving big trucks going in the other direction with my sti scoop. I put the stock air splitter in and the combo of the weight and rubber seal and the scoop not catching all the wind at the back like a sail now with the same scenerio flex is only slightly more than stock.

Safety I feel very safe without pins installed They could add an added safety feature but on my daily driven car I really dont feel that is necessary. The torsional strength of this hood is very good not quite as strong as stock when put on the hoop prop and gently twisting, But better than any aftermarket sub $1000 hood should be.So If ya have a damaged hood like I did or your WRX/RS needs a facelift and dont want to pay the $1,000 for the stocker Save some money and get one. Make sure its a VIS

Thanks, nice write up. I just recently got into an accident and damaged the hood on my WRX. Am thinking about a VIS CF hood (black wrx also).

mp5- when you say you had to cut the hood on the inside,
what material are you cutting? carbonfiber or ABS (plastic)?

Im about to order a CF hood, does the VIS one from Worldone.com come with a hood scoop, if not where would i get one. Would i get a CF hood scoop or just a regular black hoop scoop? Is it hard to install it?
