Default Local source for redline, at low prices

About 6 months ago a fellow BAIC member helped me with some cheap Redline ATF. I bought as many bottles as he had. Im now in need of some more. I think he worked at a parts store.

Anyone have a local source with good prices?

The one's I know of are:

Vic Hubbard in Hayward

Monument Car Parts in various parts of the East Bay.

check http://yp.yahoo.com for addresses, that is what I do.

I got my Redline fluids at Monument, and were $6.39 for gear oils (engine oil is cheaper) and $3 something for the fuel system cleaner.

Winchester Auto Parts carries Redline stuff. They have a couple of stores in San Jose and some by Santa Cruz (Scotts Valley and Soquel).

There is a place on Veteran's Blvd. in Redwood City that might be closer for you. I'm not sure if It's cheap or not, though. The RWC guys can tell you what the name is. (memory is not that good anymore...)

Kohlweiss... I was just thinking that they sell it. They aren't cheap though, so I wouldnt expect to get it for a great price. Who knows though.. someone wanna call them?

Question

Can't you just go to Redline Oil? I know they're located somewhere along 80 IIRC.

you need to set your location, then type in 'Monument Car Parts' as a search.

I get about 6 or 7 locations. pick one close.

If you're on the peninsula or south bay they may not be in your radius. Move your location up to Dublin or something and you'll get plenty of hits.

I have a friend that works at the Benicia warehouse, and can get stuff cheap! However, he's in Germany for the next two months. When he gets back, I'll see what I can get!

Buying from redline directly didnt save us anything, unfortunately. This was more than a year past, but Chris had a contract out there, sellin' meth for some bikers if I recall, at any rate, he picked up a load of oil, engine and gear, think they came to ~7.50 per, and this was in 2000...
I buy mine in north mountain view on middlefield; still not a deal, just happens to be where I go. Good luck, let me know if you find a source, I was gunna change fluids this week-end.

Garretson Enterprises 1932 Old Middlefield Way.

You can also get the full Redline product line @ Kohlweiss in Redwood City; 1205 Veterans Blvd. ( 650.367.8424 ).
Unfortunately it has been too long since I have looked for RS supplies, I cant speak to their needs... I use 75/90 ( or a custome mix ) MT gear oil in the tranny' and Shockproof in the diff's.
Remember to go by the dealer and pick up some brass crush washers for the drain plug, reused ones tend to leak with Redline ( synthetics in general ). Good luck.

It's in the back of your owner's manual, and there're a bunch of discussions about it in the Transmission forum.

75w90 is what most people here seem to use. Subaru of Santa Cruz puts in Mobil1 80w90. If you're going to go with Redline, I recommend digging through the posts in the Transmission forum, because there're a bunch of pros and cons to it. It seems a lot of people have had good luck with a blend of two different kinds of Redline in their transmission (75w90ns + Shockproof), and a third kind of Redline in their rear diff (75w90 regular).

Here's a link to a long discussion on it:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=285895

Me, I put in some Royal Purple 75w90 and I'm absolutely lovin' it.

Subaru of Santa Cruz charges something like 40c for the crush washers. I've heard that Stevens Creek charges over a buck for them. Oil filters are about $8.

About $5.95 a quart at Art's Parts in Novato. That's for Redline. There is another parts srore in Sonoma, Brian's Autoparts where I get Amsoil for $6.00 a quart. Can't beat those prices.
