Default motorsport specific categories?

hey guys...
as we tumble over repeated questions/and threads...
and as this forum has grown in size and traffic since we last inquired about this...

the suggestion has come up to make specific motorsport discussion areas within the MOTORSPORTS grouping..

autox guys dont wanna read about rally... etc. etc.
and we all hate seeing a thread that was already posted....

suggestion has been made for disucssion areas such as:
Rally
AutoCross
Other Motorsports

Other would encompass Nascar, F1, Drag Racing, superbike... etc.

Not trying to DIVIDE anything.
Trying to simplify...
IMHO...this would make it a lot easier to stay current and get your questions answered...

what are your thoughts..?

I don't think it's necessary to split it up. The volume is still fairly low, I don't have a problem picking and choosing what I want to read based on the thread subjects. But if it helps others, I can deal with separate forums, it's just a few more mouse clicks to navigate and check them. The biggest downside I see is that many people might not read all the subforums, while they now occasionally read (and contribute to) a thread that is outside their "domain" if the subject line happens to look interesting.

Would there still be a general forum after a split? I think that would be useful, there should be room for topics that aren't specific to one kind of motorsports.

I would like it to stay how it is. It is pretty easy to find the threads I'm interested in.

i don't see how it would help unless someone was only interested in 1 form of motorsport and i think that is very rare. being interested in rally, auto-x, F1 and touring car stuff, i'd still have to go to all the forums, it would just be a bit more of a pain. now if you did NASCAR and Other forums, that might be useful

I actually like it the way it is. You can pretty much tell about the thread from the subject and I like having everything in one place like it is now. If Im actually looking for specific info I do a search.

I think it's OK given the current traffic. If there were 100 posts a day splitting would make sense, but I don't mind running over a few cones on the way to the rally threads.

Well, the ultimate rule thread is already there. As far as setup questions, do a search, a lot of the bases have been covered. Also a lot of good handling info is in the suspension forum.

Happy the way it is J One extra click to get into a sub forum would tire me out.

But more importantly, a techy autoX question might be relevant to rally too, such as the quickrack one, and some people may miss those.

Keep as is i think.
