Default Heart Stopper

So I'm on my usual drive home from work up in the hills in the middle of nowhere. It's pitch black and I'm driving pretty well, drifting around most corners, when all of a sudden PITCH BLACK!! Right in the middle of a drift, my knee catches the key (I like to sit close), the motor cuts out, and I can't see a frickin thing. Talk about a scary moment...

I manage to keep it in my lane and keep the car from coming around on me and about 10 seconds later my heart starts up again. Wow. That doesn't happen every day. Then about a minute later I am going down a straightaway doing about 50 and a frickin deer jumps out right in front of me.

I am able to stop with room to spare (and faster than I thought I would be able to I might add). I proceed to thank myself for the brake mods I have done and Subaru for making a car with great brakes (if you're complaining about the WRX brakes for street duty, you shouldn't be)!!

There really isn't much of a moral to this story except maybe that the STi key is easier to catch with your knee because it sticks out longer from it's axis than the stocker. Just thought I would share today's brush with death with you all. Have a nice day.

that just happened to me recently. i was driving on the san mateo, with my back massager, and my knee turns the key to the on position. i hadnt realized what had happened at first, the radio was still on and everything, i just heard a loud clunk and that was it. took me awhile but i noticed my TT was off, so i turn the key, and it started up again. so how badly did we jack up our car?
thought i was the only one with that lovely luck!

Man I was pretty lucky. For the first split second (when it mattered most) I was completely blind because my eyes hadn't adjusted to the complete lack of light. I just didn't panic, countersteered a little more and it was over. I'm just glad I didn't end up tumbling down a cliff.

Oh, and I don't know what the heck I'm gonna do about the original problem. It could be big trouble if that happens again. I guess I'll try sitting further back?

Why can't our cars have the key on the left like porsches? That would be sweet.
