Oooh, sorry to hear about that d-man. I, too was once on academic probation. And come to think of it, it was because of a calculus class. Well it was more because of the complete b@#ch prof who decided to give every one in the class Ds and Fs but that's not the point.
You just gotta buckle down next semester and make sure you get some help when there's something you don't understand. I'd be more than willing to give you a hand but I'm pretty far away. What math class is it? |

i was placed into precalculus (i am an underacheiver when it comes to math)
But yeah, the teacher had a thick @$$ accent (even worse than my dad's Filippino accent) other than that, i blame myself for being a dumb@$$. Before that class, i LOVED math, now i hate it. I messed up on teh final, i need a C on it to pass, but i doubt that i will pass it, which sucks cause i already sighed up for the next level math, and if i dont pass with a C- or above, then i will automatically get dropped, which also sucks cause i wont get my final grade til next week (and here is teh best part) MY PASS TWO IS TOMMOROW MORNING AT 6:00AM (sorry for yellin) for those who dont know, pass two is my chance to drop/add classes. so, i have no idea if i should drop the next level math, and take teh class over again, or sign up for another class (which might be kinda hard, i dont think a lot of classes are open anymore) sorry for the long rant guys. I went through calc too - the simple answer is once you get that far you just have to do LOTS of problems...they guys that make it look easy really do LOTS of problems.
I think I set goals of doing 15 problems a day (I counted homework too) including Sat and Sun and I didn't go out a play till I finished my probs. I did allow myself to the probs a day or two ahead of time so I could drink too much and puke in some classy girls bathroom. Good Luck - Work hard and you'll look like the smart one - procrastinate and fail. PS Calculus isn't that hard or fun but physics is a super blast! |

We'll see what Calculus did to me this semester after next Wednesday. Academic probation would suck.

Sorry to hear that dorifto...if its any consolation I got a D in Pre-Calculus in Highschool. It's a hard class cuz it's completely different than the math class before it. You jump from simple algebraic equations to trigonometry. I was one of the many that couldn't adapt fast enough.
Hang in there Mike, you'll pull through |

drift,
I'd drop a line to the prof and find out what the grade was. I had similar situation in school, and the professor was nice enough to grade in front of me, and I passed so it was all good. For the future, any sign of smoke, put it out and get assistance (tutoring, friends, etc.) Good luck. btw, those chicks are nice, do they exist in real time? |

It's just school in the end though, it's not like your life will ultimately change because you have to take one class over again...
Steve *guy who went into Poli. Sci. to avoid Math as much as possible but still had to take Stat. twice to pass but still graduated on the Dean's List BARELY!* |

Hey can't you take 21A instead of 16A? Not that it'll be easier but it might save you a quarter of waiting. FYI I couldn't get into 21B so I took 21BH instead. How crazy is that now

Math skills? I know how that goes. In college I was pre-business and failed Financial Accounting, and retook it. Failed Business Stats and retook it. Failed Calculus, retook it, and failed again. After the first week of the third try I bailed and changed majors. Best thing I ever did. I got a Communication degree instead.
