Subaru Radio Harness plug

Can anyone tell me where I could get a wiring plug that would match the plug-in on the back of a Subaru radio? I am planning to install the radio that came out of my Forester into a friends non Subaru. What I need is the plug & some length of wire off a Subaru's harrness. I can't use the one off my Forester because it was used when I put my WRX radio in.

Try a salvage yard (junk yard). Most yards pull the head units for resale. All you have to do is chop the harness out of the doner car. Idiots are wrecking cars all the time... can't be too hard to find one!

I think you are right. Was just hoping I could just buy one. Think I'll try the local car audio installers & if no luck it's off to the junk yard. I don't relish the idea of mucking through the mud in the junk yard though.

Metra does not make that plug.

They are who most car audio places stock for plugs. I believe that one of the other manufacturers does however, I just don't know who.

Scosche SU03R - that is the reverse harness that you are looking for.

I have one in MY93 Impreza, the wifey just recently wrecked the car and will be using it for parts or MY95. I have the factoryes and the Scosche wiring harness that reads out what wires go to what... let me know if interested..so I can go cut it out...

I just came back from the Subaru junk yard, they want $75

for it. Why? The guy claim that you'll have to cut the harness for that plug.

Yep, the plug is connected to the car wiring. My local junkyard charged about $10.

$10 from my junkyard too. I live in Reno, not the urban capital of the world, and there are at least 15 junkyards within thirty minutes. Call around first. Ask how much. I got a couple of dumb quotes too -- $30, not $75, but still -- but I kept calling till I got something reasonable. Also note that you don't need one out of a new age impreza. I think anything from 96 model year on will work. Mine is actually out of a 97 outback. Works like a champ!
