Unhappy Help:Ran through puddle of water

wussup yall. Just came home at 3 in the morning and it was raining real hard i mean like even with AWD it still had hard time getting traction. Well car ran through a FAT puddle that i couldnt see because the rain was so horrable. Car just F'd up now when i floor it it just jerks around 4 rpm at WOT. when car is not in gear and i gas it till 6 rpm everything is koo. When i listen 2 the engine it sounds the same as no damages. Now when i open my airbox i find out that my MAF sensor is wet. Just wondering how much damage have been caused to my car and if the MAF sensor can be the cause of the reason why my car is jerking at 4 rpm at WOT

That sounds like a good reason, i've hit huge puddles before and i've never had any problems, and we're talking about puddles that are like 3-4 inches deep and big enough to swallow my whole rim at one time, i've hit one at like 45 and had the water come up over the roof, but luckily i've never gotten my MAF wet.

Since its wet, it would read as the car getting less air than it needs, so it might cut back on fuel to keep you from running too rich, hence the possibler jerking, you're simply not getting enough fuel for the air thats actually going into the engine, which means you're running lean and might lead to detonation, my advise is to keep the revs low until you can get the thing to read correctly again.

Last time I did that "muckin" ( ) through some mud holes, I found at least a half gallon of water in my intake. The filter gets wet and can't flow much air. Open the airbox, let the filter dry out, disconnect some of the hoses and let the water out and you'll be fine. No permanent damage.

i should have stated my speed. I was going 65-70 when i hit that puddle it was like 4-5 inch's deep. When i look in my splash guard on my right wheel tire well(sp) it pushed back and water was acctually getting sprayed into my engine bay.

Um, I dont think the WRX's are MAF based....I thought all Subaru's after 2000 were MAP based?

If so, how could a non existant MAF be wet?

Just a thought

2.5 yes WRX no. The WRX has MAF sensor that's attached to the airbox.

The car is running great again. All i had to do was just dry the MAF with a hair dryer. Also replaced the Air filter with a K&N 1.
