Default Bosal DP / Gutted UP Review

Bill and Andy installed my Bosal downpipe and gutted stock uppipe into my otherwise stock WRX this morning (In a shade under 2 hours )...and the review is...pizza is a happy man.

It feels like a different car with much more oomph down low. Where I used to acheive full boost at or around 3700-3800 in 3rd and fourth...now boost starts to come on around 2900-3000 and I'm hitting maximum by 3200-3300. Spool up is much faster and has made the car fun all over again. "Max" boost has also risen by approximately 0.01mPa, meaning I now top out at around 0.095-0.1. This is with entirely stock boost control.

The rest of the system is the stock 3rd cat, followed by Stromung midpipe, and Prodrive muffler. Exhaust note volume seems virtually unchanged, while I can now hear the turbo and wastegate much more clearly. x100

The only downside was the dreaded CEL that reared it's ugly head about 10 miles from Bill's house. This was expected and I'll be putting in a MIL eliminator (thanks Gruppe-S) very soon.

I wanted to thank Bill and Andy for doing what seemed to me a super fast install with no leaks or issues. Bill convinced me to reuse the same uppipe gaskets, as he said he's only seen leaks with aftermarket pipes. Anyone looking to get quality work done for what I consider cheap should certainly look up the http://www.i-speedusa.com guys.

Anyway...I couldn't be happier for less than $400 in total cash output. Best mod EVAR!

Nice meeting you Eric. I was the guy that had the EGT probe and Vishnu turboback installed. I second that, i-speedusa rocks!

Hey Travis...nice meeting you too...I'm so jealous of your exhaust! How are you liking it?

Does this answer how I'm liking it? It was costly but I'm more than satisfied.

you running a vf22 or something? 3700-3800 rpm for full boost is big turbo type lag.

a completely stock car hits .1MPa on the stock boost gauge on the completely stock boost controller at 2800rpm in 5th, give or take 100rpm depending on weather.

Nope...stock turbo. My stock gauge is tapped at the BOV line.

I never consistently hit 0.1mpa before or after the UP/DP installation. I think my guage tap location might have something to do with it.

Also I haven't had that much of a chance to stare at the gauge and the tach while I'm WOT...maybe I'm just estimating incorrectly. All I know is that the fun starts noticably earlier now.

its really easy to do, just start out around 25mph in 4th gear and floor it. Im really curious about this setup so if you could do this a few times that would be great.

should be a few hundred rpms lower than stock...say 2500-2600 for .1MPa...lets hope

drop me a msg with the results if you get a chance!

Thanks for the great review! I just stumbled on the Bosal downpipe and I'm reallly considering getting one now. (Dibs! )

Oh, and when I do, I'll be happy to sell you my Stromung 3d cat eliminator straight pipe, as I'll be putting the 3d cat back on. Presently running with the stocker downpipe.

Hahah! Are you calling dibs on mine? Back off! Although I am fickle and change my mind/setup a lot.

Let me know...
