Question

If that's not the real thing, the body kit looks very very convincing. I couldn't tell from the pics, but for those of you who saw this thing up close, did it have the front-mounted intercooler and Brembo brakes that real EVO Vs have? These are the only ways to tell on this side of popping the hood open.

Oh yeah, I guess you can check the interior too. See if it matches the EVO V's.

Click <a href="http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/EVO-CLUB/evobook/catarog/evo5_1.html">here</a> to see the Japanese EVO V catalogue.

RC, yes the 1.6EL is only sold in Canada (and Japan under the name Honda Domani). But the EVO V kit can fit just fine on the Mitsubishi Mirage too.

Question

oh man! is that the EL or the real EVO???
from the taillights i can see in the second pix it doesn't look like the EL w/ Evo kit i saw quite awhile ago...so does it mean that's the real one or he even custom fit the taillights?
Syms: probably u are the only can tell if that's ur buddies' car...

I sure hope that's real otherwise whoever the fool which spent so much money to make his EL or whatever econobox to look like and EVO has really lost his/her brain. You Vancouverites really crack me up. I wonder if Vancouver has more rice than Toronto side or not..... hehehe....

I think thats the Mitsu Mirage mock up.. I'm almost 100% sure thats not a real Evo.. I mean where can the dude get it from? Cuz Japan and UK are RHD so it'll be hard to get a LHD one.

Gambit: I think Vancouver has more rice that Toronto..

Okay, since I'm an avid WRX & EVO fan, I just gotta find out if it's real. So I did some "research" and found some interesting things:

First, something that's very easy to spot, where's the fuel door? On all the EVOs, it's on the right hand side of the car no matter whether the car is LHD and RHD. There are too many pics on the net where u can find the proof of this. Here's one of those places: http://www.lancer-evolution.com/asso/be/battleevome.htm

Secondly, look at the rear wheel's fender flares. This one is harder to spot, but the ones on the "EVO" we have here looks to be a one-piece that's part of the rear quarter fender and the door. But the real EVO's rear fender flares are seperate from the rear quarter fender and the door, as can be seen in any of these pics: http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/E...atarog/5_2.gif http://www.lancer-evolution.com/asso...oi/sinoi_1.jpg http://user2.allnet.ne.jp/sizuku/pho...TSUKUBA/21.jpg http://user2.allnet.ne.jp/sizuku/pho...TSUKUBA/25.jpg

So now that we know the EVO's a fake, the only question left is, what the hell WAS it originally? A 1.6EL? A Mirage? Something else?

FAKE.

There are two things you cannot shake from this photo. The Honda/Acura C pillar shapes and the corresponding rear door window shape along the same edge.

A good try, but you can't shake the styling DNA of the donor car.

I do like the tailights, though.

Didn't we have this very same discussion about two months ago? Looks like the same crappy 1.6 EL Acura too.
It amazes me time and time again why people put that kinda cash into crappy cars.

(Two threads with the same topic? Actually three if you count the one in the 'General Forum' section. Man, this must be important.)

Well he achieved in getting attention. Enuf to garner pictures taken too!
that is so sad. With that kinda money to spend on making a car to look like and EVO, he/she could've bought a real sports car. What is wrong with these ppl!

I think that's Acura 1.6, notice the car's right hand side(passenger side) has no gas tank door, so it must be on the left hand side(driver side).
and I have checked the US spec. Mirage, its gas tank door locates on the right hand side while 1.6 has its on the left hand side...

I wonder how that car handles.... I won't be surprised that a stock EL can dust it now that insecure EVO wannabe is weighed down by the bodykit. Unless.....unless he actually got an EVO turbo 2.0l engine in it too!

Never mind that the "Evolution V" sticker is in the wrong place, and those are NOT the O.Z. rims found on the Evo.
