Question Baja parts questions

My Baja came with the subwoofer and tweeter kit. Want to order the upgraded speakers but am unsure how to remove the door panels. Any suggestions on how to do this without breaking anything, or is this something I should leave to the pros?

The compass mirror doesn't appear to be any different when it's turned on or off. It does eliminate glare but is kinda dark all the time. Does anyone else experience this?

Also got the Dunlop Wintersport M2's. Great tire. Highly recommend them.
Love my yellow Baja!
Thanks,
Mike

if it came with the sub and tweeters, you probably also got the speakers.

did you get a premium sound system package?

as for taking off the door panals, i havent seen but one baja and dont remember what the panals look like. But find as many screws as you can hold it in, and they usually pop off if you pull them towards you.

Well my bf and I put in my stereo system. It wasn't too hard. There are only like 3 screws on the door panels; just becarefull not to break the tiny cover in the door handle(it doesn't do much besides cover a screw but it would suck to loose it). Ummm....the hardest part was getting the door handle to come off, bc all of the wires for the windows and everything are attached to it.(again just be carefull) I think that you can deffinatly do it yourself, save your money to install a turbo.(then you can pay professionals) We messed up the plastic piecs on the bottem of the door; but that was from taking the seat in and out too many times. Anyway, If you have more questions just pm me. Good luck with your project.

nichole

p.s. I love my yellow baja too. Maybe when we drive back to nyc we'll see you.
almost forgot, leave the window up it's a little easier and pull the door panel up and out

I've done it numerous times to my Legacy, and I doubt the procedure is different. That being said, I'd take it a stereo shop and let them mess with it. It's a pain in the ass and something always ends up getting broken or screws getting lost. That way if they break it, they get to pay for it.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions all!
I did order the premium sound package, but the dealer told me that the factory was out of the upgraded speakers when Subaru built the car, strange as that sounds. Are the upgraded speakers that much better than the stock ones?
Also, any comments on whether the auto dimming mirror is significantly different when turned on and off.
Finally, if anyone hears about a locking tonneau cover please let us know.
Mike
PS. I keep the Baja in NW Ct. if anyone is up in that area.

Do I understand you right? You paid for Premium Sound but didn't get all of the components? And the dealer that charged you for the full system, told you? Just curious. I have owned my Silver Baja since mid November. Couldn't be happier. Fun and Fun and Fun! I'm in San Diego and haven't seen another one on the roads here so mine sure gets lots of looks!

The window sticker listed all the options on my Baja. Subwoofer and tweeter package were listed, but no upgraded speakers, like the dealer said.
I added the compass mirror after I signed the contract and the dealer didn't charge me for it so I called it even. Got a great price so no complaints.
Have seen a total of 2 Bajas in the northeast since I got mine in October. Have only had positive comments (yellow 5 speed).

Don't bother with the factory upgrade speakers. Buy just about any quality aftermarket set. They will sound better and cost less.

I'll probably pick up a set of speakers and have them installed. Sounds like there are a lot of little parts that break or disappear.

Love those Dunlop Wintersports! Unstoppable (so far).

YES!! and i answer this because i dare you to try and find another place to put that sub. The only place i can find is inbetween the rear seats. and even then it's a matter of imagination as i've yet to see it done.

soo with that said. it is soo easy just to hook up to the existing stereo.

The upgraded speakers aren't that much better to pay all that money to get them. You are better off getting a nice pair of speaks aftermarket as linsavy said. I hope your dealer gave you a break on the price if the speakers weren't in them. Sounds to me like the dealer is scamming you.

If you got the premium sound package then you got everything. Subaru would send out the car if they didn't have the parts. Believe me I waited for two months for them to get everything for my Yellow Baja. I only got the extender package. So I know that you would have everything that you are suppose to get if that is the package of the vehicle.

LOVE THE YELLA BAJA!

I agree that the SPEAKER upgrades are a waste of money however in the baja the subwoofer is not. It costs $$$ for a custom install not to mention the specific type of subwoofer (small profile) to fit in my proposed "seat box".

so like everyone else said for the speakers go aftermarket with some mb quarts (or like) very good sound quality you will not be disapointed. just shop around for the best price.

baja girl do you have any pics of yours? we've seen a few out here in socal but can't wait till we get back to upstate ny so we can play in the snow. We should have a baja night or something it would be cool
