Default Bathhurst 24hour

I caught the last 20 minutes of the program. The list of finishers included 2 WRX Sti's.

Did any one see the whole thing or have any stats on either of those cars? Top speed, times, hp, anything?

One of the cars did 50 laps (?).

Anyway, the fact that there was a sube in the mix caught me off guard.

One of them is a new age, another is an old age.

I saw them during the warm-up lap, for a total of about 0.48ses. And also, during the opening of the program, they show a few cars' techometer during start up. One of them is the new age STi.

Heck, there was even a Lancer in the field. That Holden is a nice vehicle. What size engine they say it had? A 427 Chev?

Default 7.0 Litre

actually, I believe that is a 7.0 Litre V8, the same one that goes into the Vette LeMans cars. No wonder it is so much faster than everyone else...

I'm hoping this event develops into one of the great annual endurance races. I love watching these kind of races, especially when Evos and WRXs are involved, and Bathurst is a fantastic circuit.

If you're interested in finding out more about it go here:

And yes the Holden, was running a 7 litre Corvette CR-5 engine.

I agree. This Mount Panorama track is simply wicked. Like I said in the other post, I was playing the new game Pro Race Driver, which has this track. Two very long straights going up and down the mountain. Once you're on the hill, the corners and elevation changes are incredible. Makes Virginia International seems like child's play. The TV coverage really didn't even show 1/3 of the section on the hill. Reminds me of the Ghia Circuit in Macau, but perhaps even better.

I saw most of it and, being a regular watcher/spectator at the Daytona 24, think the coverage was just too short. The intro sequence was very cool, my jaw hit the floor when I saw the STI tach . The STIs (GC and GD) were both mid-pack qualifiers so they didn't get much camera time (althought the GC was ahead of the GD ). My question on the Monero is: Was it in Aussie V8 super touring trim or beyond? Either way, that car is incredible and it will be killer when it comes here as the GTO (LS1 in a 4-door).

I've driven the Bathurst track many times, not racing! as it is a public road when not used for racing. It would be scary as hell going flat out with 5or 600 HP on tap.

It used to be my yearly pilgrimage to watch the 1000KM touring car race on the labor day week end in October. It seems like they have expended to having a 24 hour race there as well.

If you missed the 1 hour special this week it will be repeated on the 21st at 12:00pm CST according to my TiVO.

Nigel.

Hi guys .. I drove the '02 STi at the Bathurst 24-hour race. We finished 8th outright (3rd in class).

We have two STi's competing in the Australian GTP championship this year which is a 'production' based formula for high performance touring cars like the STi, EVO7 Mitsubishi, BMW M3, Mazda RX7, RX8, Nissan 200SX, VW Golf R32 4WD, etc plus big locally produced high performance V8 Fords and Holdens (General Motors). Our web site www.protecnica.com.au contains heaps of info about the team, our cars, the championship, etc as well as all the photos from Bathurst and our other races. Even a few photos of some of the damage I've done to our poor WRXs over the last couple of years.

Wayne Boatwright
