Angry Stopped by RCMP last night

Hi guys,

My brother was stopped by a RCMP at a road block last night. An officer checked his car for a long time and couldn't find anything special (he doesn't modify anything external!), and my brother didn't drink any liquor last night. But for some reasons that officer keep checking his car and even check his record for the past four years. However, to his disappointment, my brother didn't have any ticket for the last two years. So, what he can do? That RCMP issued a warning to my brother and require him to remove his razo pedals in 7 days! What a XXXX? So is anyone here have similar experience? Is aftermarket pedal illegal? If not, I'm going to put a hard time on that officer.

Sounds like a power trip to me. I don't understand how those pedals would be illegal.
They are sold at almost every major auto retailer.
A couple of years ago, I was going camping, and was stopped at a road block and was honest enough to tell the officer that I did have alcohol in my trunk. I was told it was illegal to drink alcohol past that point and my booze was taken away. However transporting alcohol is not illegal as long as it is'nt open. I wrote the liquor control a letter, and it was ruled the officer was in the wrong. Although I did'nt bother going to chilliwack for a case of beer, that officer had to deal with a lot of extra paper work. The point I am trying to make is, some cops think they are above the law. Don't get me wrong, I have no beefs about cops doing their jobs, but when they harrass people just because they have a nice car, that is when it's time to fight back and make their jobs more difficult, i.e. more paperwork. ah revenge is a wonderful thing.

Cecil, if you have time, play with them. I can say it's harassment. But the other wa, it''s only a freaking warning ticket, did that sucker ask your brother to fix it and bring to them for inspection? If not, leave it there!!

That was happened on #3 road Richmond this morning at 1:00am. They set up a road block for some reason. My brother wasn't speeding and no alcohol at all. Was he driving a nice car? I dunno. It is just a 93 Ford Probe with no modification (totally stock).

GS116, yes that S### issued a ticket and ask my brother to remove that pedal and then go to have a inspection . The removal of that cheesy pedal is only a 2 minutes job but it is just plain stupid.

So guys, who should I complain to? Thanks for all your support!

i think u can go dispute the ticket at any motor branch....even that's a warning ticket...
u know what?! for a stupid pedal u have to pay sth for inspection which doesn't worth...what a world man!
my friend even got pull over two night ago...and his sun visor banner has to be taken off right the way in front of the cop...WTF....
i am sure his banner is smaller than any of us who has a STi Subaru banner...

actually this kind of inspection you don't have to paid for it, simply fix what they want and then bring your car to any RCMP to let them check it, and they'll file it for you. If you don't get it done within its time limit, they'll probably give you a real ticket then

Due Canada Transport, their strict laws prohibit aftermarket pedals cause they feel it poses a danger if your foot slips when wet. I don't understand why, but I feel it is plain stupid. The other thing is that the law allows merchants to sell anything they please as long as it is not drugs or any explosives; there are quite a few products that they can sell but people cannot legally use cause DOT and SAE laws. An example would be the Toyota Celica, the US version gets the shiny aluminum racing pedals while the canadian version gets the regular rubber pedals. If the IS300 has them, then Toyota/Lexus of Canada must have found a way to convince them to pass it on that particular vehicle. This is what I learned from school at BCIT.
