Default speedventures track day: laguna seca and sears point.

speedventures has just reduced their pricing on their upcoming events to laguna seca and sears point (infineon) raceway. it really is a great deal to go there now and you can do a few sessions at sears point for as little as $150. great deal for such a famous track.

i think a lot of us would like to get a chance to drive laguna seca, especially after countless hours of playing it on GT3. i'm interested in going, but i'd like to see if any other subaru people are interested as well. it is a long drive, but it would certainly be a day to remember.

is anyone going or thinking about going?

I have to work that day. I've already taken too many days off for track days :\

Question

So, what are Speedventures like - well organised, safe? Is it worth the money and more to the point, is it worth the drive up to Sears Point?

the drive to sears point is going to be long. but as far as speedventures is concerned...i've been to 3 of their events and they've all been well organized, fun, and safe. there have been minor accidents, but that's because people get too aggresive and as long as you stay on the track, you'll be fine. all of the other drivers are friendly and there are strict passing rules so you won't have to worry about someone running you off the road. i haven't had any problems with slower guys pulling over for me, either. you get a lot of track time, too. it's totally worth it, in my opinion.

the only negative to the sears point/laguna seca events is the drive from southern california up there. but i think it will be well worth it.

I had some feedback from a friend who has driven Sears. Its a loooong drive from LA and it is a technical track with some dangerous (as in expensive) parts to the track. I like Laguna, but I'm torn because I'm off work for the Sears Point event, but don't want the drive up there whereas I'd have to take sick/vacation days for Laguna Seca etc etc.

Well, I'm going to Sears. I'm NOT looking forward to the drive up there and back, but what the hell!

With their wierd classification points system, I have no clue what group I'm in, but it's track time.

Anybody else?

Is "eric m." going?

Unhappy A little too early.

I have to pass on this one, but will be looking forward to possibly making the April trip to Sears Point. Definitely a technical track, so I want to have the suspension setup in order to have some real fun w/o body roll. I'm getting a Tein HA coilover kit as soon as it comes in, and upgrading the brakes, and new tires. I have to get these things done before track time......

I'm not going - neither Laguna nor Thunderhill (Feb 8+9).
