I was debating wether to specify that is has to be a legit 1/4 mile standing start, i diddnt want to be overly specific, but....YES standing start, touching the ground, human inside bla bla.

4.5 seconds is crazy. I cant imagine what that would look like on the track, let alone actually going a 1/4 mile in 4.5 seconds, it would probabll crush my weak little frame!

Motorcycles are insanely fast, and pull quick quarter mile times, but if they want to be top contenders it is impossible, because they are so inefficient aerodynamically. They just physically can't break a certain speed. But at lower speeds, I would probably put my money on a motorcycle to severely own everyone.

4.477 seconds at 332.18 mph....... It's hard to even imagine..

It's amazing that those engines produce over 6000 bhp with no electronic management of any kind, it's all mechanical. Scary, scary things to watch in person. "Nitro Wash" is an interesting experience.

IIRC the F-18 will do 0-60 in 0.8. Not sure about the quarter mile. And it's 32,000 lbs ! I think it's sporting twin turbos too. 50,000-ish hp each.

Back in 1949, the aero-space people in America were doing experiments to see what sort of acceleration and deceleration a human being could withstand, and what sort of seat belts they needed. They would strap their volunteer medical doctor, Major John Paul Stapp, into a rocket-powered sled, and expose him to enormous g-forces. Their rocket sled was just a 4-wheeled trolley that was powered by rockets, and ran on a railway line, and was slowed down by dropping a scoop into a pool of water that lay between the railway lines. On one occasion testing seat belts for the Air Force, Major Stapp stopped from 1,030 kph (286 m/s) in just 1.4 seconds! This testing went on at what is now called Edwards Air Force Base in California - where the space shuttle lands. Now our hero, Air Force Captain Edward A. Murphy Jr. had designed a rig for this rocket sled. This rig held 16 sensors to measure the acceleration or g-forces on the poor volunteer. On one particular day, the rocket sled accelerated so hard that it subjected Colonel Stapp to about 40-g. That kind of g-force is enough to push your smile from your face onto the back of your head. At the end of this particular run, Major Stapp staggered off the rocket sled, with blood-shot eyes and slight bleeds from several of his bodily orifices.
....Rocket Sled, not the quickest but certainly the wildest ride.
