Tommi speaka ingles! Haha You can barely understand what Makinnen is saying but the drum and bass track compliments the new car zipping around those corners.

On a unrelated note:
Who else would love to hear Tommi sing? I can only imagine how the Makinnen rendition of 'Jingle Bells' would sound like...

It plays for 5 seconds, then the video freezes. ASX sucks.

Cool!! Thanks for the link!

I was wondering what the hell and ASX file was myself, but when I right-clicked and downloaded the file, it was an ASF file. So not worries.

WMP sucks I still don't understand what was wrong with mpg's. This is "progress"? Cool vid though, when it actually works.

Is it me or does Tommi just seem like he's reading a cue card with a gun at his back?

Here's my quasi translation.

"This is the first time I've had it on a track and this car is very fast, faster than . . . the previous car."

"At high speeds the car is wonderful, there's no changes needed."

Have you seen the quality of a WMV? Compared to the same size mpeg video its incredible. Divx/mpeg4 will get you very close if that's what you're refering too, but even less video players support than then WMV or ASF files.

Ok what's my problem that media player will only give me the audio and not the video and quicktime won't play it at all?

Do I need RealPlayer?

I have done a bit of video encode'n on different projects. and the Bitrates you can run WMV's at and still get good quality are silly. I mean I did a LOAD of testing with like 15 different QT codecs, about 10 different Mpeg/Mpeg2 codecs, 5 different Mpeg4 codecs, and NOTHING can match quality for the bitrate of WMV right now.

I dislike MS but damn. you gotta give them props when they refine a compression codec that good.

Also Divx has like 200x the playback and compatability issues as WMV.

SO basically you guys are willing to support a video format that's half the size, but doesn't work on anything except windows and is loaded with spyware? Not me. Good thing there's CrossOver Plugins for Linux.

Well if I can make a video small, and look great for 90% of my audience ( since Macs can also view WMV files... its just those mis guided elitist Linux desktop users who are screwed) or make my video look crapy, or hardly play stable (divx), for 100% of my audience... I think its clear which method I pick

And donít get on the whole "down with MS" thing on me. I am a network architect for the State of Wisconsin, and I have 30 BSD/Linux servers under my thumb. I LOVE linux/BSD as a server OS. But this whole "desktop" push is nothing but BS. You want an OS that doesnít fund MS.. buy a mac. Why settle for using an inferior OS and constantly have compatibility issues such as this one.

MS aint perfect, but at a desktop level the are pretty damn solid ( win2K that is.. XP is crap), and while Office may be bloated and have its share of problems.. its still HELLUVA lot better than that StarOffice crap.

So thereís my lil rant about this "linux compatibility" BS... Why should I support the "Compatibility mode" OS on the internet. When 90% of the audience has a functional OS that can play the files.

Get a 40mm strut bar, Kartboy end links...perhaps beefier sway bar, and leave the front strut bar off, you should be set. You'll be able to slide your tail around.

Naah, he's just doing the "Flick" around the track. I bet that STi was setup totally like it will be sold (in Japan?) and in the hands of a world class driver, can be made to do amazing things.

Ok, so he's pushing it harder than we probably would, but I've noticed something common to most STS Subarus (mostly RS and/or RS turbos) I've seen while working the course at auto-X - there seems to be an awful lot of and loud tire squeal! Is this because of all-season tires? I'd think even the STS guys are running Falkens or something that wouldn't squeal so much. Is it because of push understeer and weight? My ITR on stock tires and other ITRs never squealed so loud. I've yet to auto-x my WRX and don't get to work DS since that is my class, but the Shankster once let me drive his DS WRX wagon (with normal street pressure Forester wheels/tires!) and it squealed and rolled like crazy in the fun run, but handled well enough for me to buy mine for a daily driver.

Also, what's with the little RS tailpipe in the STi? Looks like smaller diameter than 1 of the WRX dual pipes. Something here is going backwards?

Taking turns on RE92s leads to banshee-like squeals. It's like the same tires they use in movies (or Japanese drifting) i think

My Falkins Azenis are so quiet it's eery.

anybody notice that the taillights (on the brakes) on the STi he was driving light up differently than the one in RalleyX's (or whatever the name is) photo album in the sti info forum? (the petersen viewing or whatever ... minor details ) i remember people asking about JDM versus USDM brake lights at some point in time ...

back to motorsports...

I get sound only when I play the clip. I checked WMP and it says I have the latest updates.

Anybody have any ideas?
