Default How to make the WRX ENGINE deeper on idle?

Hi,
I know this is kind of a dumb question, but what is the best way to make the engine (bay-front of the car) sound deeper on idle? Or is there any way?
I know adding a prodrive (or any) muffler will make the exhaust note/idle sound deeper, and a cone type intake will make a deep noise on throttle, but is an exhaust really the best option?
I just want more of a growl on idle (not loud but deeper) so it doesn't sound like a 4banger.
Obviously the car is only a 2.0 liter, and isn't gonna sound like a V8, but I was just curious...
Thanks,

Brian

You could go to a Muffler shop and have them replace your muffler with just a pipe and tip. That'll give you some flow plus some sound along with it. Deep sounds come from a 2.5"-3" turbo back pipe.

Well, does he want noise or a turbo? He needs to make up his mind!

Default Decat

Replace up-pipe, downpipe, midpipe and rear center section with decat versions, it'll be deeper and you get the added bonus of more power!!!

Go with the 2.5 inch with no muffler from the axle back and get a nice chrome tip- I did this a week ago and I couldn't be happier with it- initially, I thought it was too loud, but now I'm used to it and it just sounds great.

PS- you might even be surprised at the V8 like burble the car has at idle- when you open it up, it has a sound all its own, but at idle it has a low, lumpy growl- awesome! PM me if you want more info.

Yes, do the intake silencer first- you'll hear lots of extra intake noise and the internal bypass valve- it's a nice sound- only takes about an hour or so to do- then do the exhaust.

Yeah, they are like, SO overrated

Rich

PS. Seriously, buy a new exhaust.
TB = good performance
Cat-back = little performance, more for looks
