It isn't black, its blue!

Default Saturday adventure drive 12/28 "Geysers and Dirt"

Since I'm working the afternoon and evening on Sunday, I'll be doing my little adventure drive Saturday.

The plan is to tour Geysers road up between Geyserville and Cloverdale, then from Hopland head up to Clear lake with a jaunt on dirt roads up to the NE before returning to the Santa Rosa area.

If you want to join me, here are 3 locations to meet up;

8:45-9:00 AM, (A little more reasonable than the 7am start, don't you think?) Pyramid Brewery Parking lot, 8th Street at Gilman in Berkeley.

I will be leaving there promptly at 9:00

9:25 to 9:40 AM, Marin Civic Center, parking lot off Armory drive, just SE of Civic Center Lagoon.

I will be leaving there promptly at 9:40

12:15-12:25 refueling at Hopland Exxon, US101 in Hopland. (That might actuall be a little early, Geysers road can take a while...)

Total drive time will be about 8 hours if we do the whole route I have planned.

Hope to see a few of you coming along, it should be fun.

-Pete

Yo Pete! how's it going!? Damn, I almost miss this one... I am currently running Azenis so I don't know if I'll join you or not. I had a flat and haven't have the chance to fix it. I'll try my best to show!

I'm in for this, but i don't see any need for me to drive south to come back north. How 'bout you give me a call when your in santa rosa or something so I can catch up with some where before you head to the geysers rd. What exit are you taking from 101 to get to geysers rd.? Thanks, Vince....707 280-8090

Is this a drive that my OZ SL's can survive (meaning no...i mean NO potholes? ) Or should I swap on the stockers?

Smile Alright!

Glad to see that we might have some company!

I would suggest putting stock rims and re92's on if you have them, although I don't expect any real rough conditions-
a couple of these roads will be new to me, and with the weather we've been getting, I'd expect we might see some pretty big rocks scattered here and there.

Vince- I was looking at getting off 101 at Healdsburg and taking Alexander Valley road through town and out to Geysers Rd.

I'll try to give you a ring as we approach, and I'll have FRS on ch6.

I hope to see you guys tomorrow!

Default Man you guys missed it again!

Vince wound up being the only one who braved the elements and joined Jane and I for a very entertaining tour of points north.

Since Vince bicycles it sometimes, I had him lead the Geysers Rd section, about 30 miles that I expected would take over an hour, but at Vince's pace we managed to average slightly over 35mph, while dodging small landslides and scattered boulders.

Then he fell in behind us and genuine thrills and action were had on a delightful 23 mile gravel section that culminated with a river crossing
(It was great to see Vince dousing his 350hp baby!)

Then after a brief stopover at Clear Lake we found ourselves climbing into a blizzard!

(OK, I admit - today would have been nicer, but nowhere near the adventure!)

Next time I'm heading for the Sierras, see if I cah haul Andy C. out for some snow-drifting!

I hope you all are enjoying your donuts!

Default a couple of pictures are posted....

on one of the other "bay area impreza club donut meet" web sites- one that lets my browser post pictures:

http://www.nasioc.com/forums/showthr...&threadid=3588
i-Club -- Forums - Saturday drive, 12/28 Geysers and Dirt

OK, I see that this site has an automatic "replace text in html link" function in action-

to see the pictures, use the link above, but replace the text string <nasioc> with (Alex's trademarked and apparently censored or banned on this site) shorthand term for impreza club.
