Default Nearly had a heart attack tonight...

So im driving along at 10PM tonight on Rte. 2 West, I had the cruise set to exactly 60MPH, and was wearing my seatbelt. I spotted a car that was pulled over about 1000 feet away. So im in the right hand lane, so usually when I see a car get pulled over I pass the cop in the left hand lane, so as I was attempting to, This other Caprice Cop car, comes riding up on the left hand lane while I had my turn signal on, so whatever I shut it off and staid in the right hand lane, all of a sudden he gets on my ass and about 5 seconds later puts the blues on, im like Oh ****! So I started to slow down ready to pull over and he gets into the breakdown lane right behind the cop that had the person pulled over, so I figured he was checking on the cop or he was having problems.
So Im driving along about 3 miles after where the first guy was pulled over and so as I was proceeding to get onto the left hand lane to pass the cop that pulled over the second motorist, the same caprice classic cop car gets right on my ass, for about 10 seconds so im like what the hell is this cop trying to do? He couldent pull me over for anything since I wasnt breaking any laws, so as hes on my ass, I pull into the left hand lane and the cop is still behind me going the same speed as i was but in the right hand lane, i thought i was done for good, then finally gets behind the cop that had the second motorist pulled over....

What a scary night.... BTW did see a ton of people getting pegged on 128....

well i wasn't one of those people but i did get pulled on 290 tonight. Doing 60(in a 50) and had been right behind the same car since the 190/290 jct. and in the same lane since wboylston. Blues come on, i pull all the way over as far as i possibly can even put two wheels up on the curb. Immediatly flip my dome light on flick my seatbelt off(mistake) to reach over and grab my registration. Have my license and reg hanging out the window before the officer even gets out of the car. He asks if i know why he stoped me. I say i guess i was going a little fast. He says i was weaving and making irratic lane changes. I think to my self irratic..... one between wboylston and central worc.?? what ever. He asks me if i have had anything to drink. I say yes one beer and we play follow my finger and stand on one foot and count to 30 one thousands on the side of the road. A fun game i assure u. As a full grown boy whos only had one beer should i passed with flying colors and went back to my car. A short while later my new friend comes and hands me a christmas card. Citation for not wearing a seatbelt. I explain to him that i took it off to get my registration. He says that it was off by the time he saw me and to fight it if i didn't like it. I get home and survey the damage. In reading over the ticket i see that he as given me a writen warning for speeding... 70 in a 55 for two miles. first of all i never broke 60. I know this beyond a shadow of a doubt because i debated passing the guy infront of me on several occasions then checked my speed and saw it was 60. I guess the reason this really agrivates me is that im now in the selections process for the CT state police and that could take me completly out of the running. I have NEVER gotten a ticket and this is just pissen me off. The guy dosn't even know what he is in for a speed zone. There are NO 55 mph zones on 290.

55 zone on 290 from 495 to Worcester? Um...its 65 all the way out. Once you crest the hill before the 190 exit it turns into a 50. As far as I know there are no construction zones either. Thats messed up.

I almost go in an accident on my way up to the Nashua meet the other night. I decided to take the Rt. 4 shortcut from 495 to Rt. 3. As I was driving down the ramp to get onto Rt. 3, I see a sign that says 'Breakdown Lane in Use.' Rt. 3 is bumper to bumper except the breakdown lane. So I pull into the breakdown lane and start to set my own pace. Little do I know there was a bridge 5 car lenghts ahead where there is no breakdown lane. Almost got sandwiched between the bridge and another car.

Hey hey... If you get stopped often enough (like once every year or so), then you'll be more used to it, and not get a heart attack!

The trick is to get stopped, but not ticketed.

I wasn't one of those people on 128 tonight either, but damned close. I was exceeding the speed limit, but not by much, just keeping up with traffic. Go through an underpass, I see the car on the grass on the left. Let off the gas, slow down a bit. I see the lights. I figure I'm the only car with a spoiler, so I'm it. I just keep on going as if nothing happened.

Cop comes right up on my ass, to the point where I can't see his headlights. I have no where to go, without cutting someone off. I hear the cop's loudspeaker blaring "pull right, now!" So, I spot a clearing big enough for my car if I was parallel parking it. I pull into it, slam on the brakes to match speed with the car in front. Cop pulls up alongside, on my left, puts his side floodlight on me. Now I'm blind and tailgating, great.

He pulls away and I see him with some beat up old dodge truck-that passed me miles before the underpass-on the side of the road a ways up.

Mmmm....adrenaline rush...

I got hit with instant on radar doing 75 in a 50 over the bridge in New London. It was about midnight and I just had a couple drinks and was on my way home. Luckily he didn't come after me which really suprised me at that speed. I'll consider it an unwritten warning to speed smartly.

You have to watch out on the Goldstar bridge. There are places in the median for police to hide on both sides (Groton and NL sides). Most of the time, the cruisers would be just in the middle. I think the margin is pretty large for them to go after you. I think they only go after Cars that are really pushing the limits. You are probably safe if you are just 10 or 15mph over.
On another note, I was going to work one morning and there were two radar traps one after the other on I-95. I guess they are trying to take advantage of people who think they are safe after seeing one trap.

I drove to Westfield Mass saturday morning (on the road from 8:30-11:30), on the Pike from the Brighton Tolls all the way to exit 3. Not one problem. Just kept the speed at 5-10 mph over, and listened to the V1 chime up around the construction signs. There were a ton of State Police on the Eastbound side, but I had no issues driving back at ~3:30-5:30 either.

Dustin, that is a real good way to end your night face down on the ground. I never move when pulled over. I leave my hands on the steering wheel (up top) so the officer can see them, and never move without telling the officer first what I am doing. I explain where all my documents are so they know what I am reaching for. You never know why they are pulling you over, the officer might have had a call and your car matched the desription. Be careful out there.
