So, it will be 23 hours of NASCAR and 1 hour of Paris-Dakar each day then.

This is some of the best television on all year, IMO. Will be interesting to see this year's route thru northern Africa (Tunisia, Libya, Egypt) as opposed to the more traditional route thru Morocco, Mali, Mauritania, and into Senegal. Can't wait!

T'aint true. Speed Channel is also carrying the F3000 championship, live! I love to watch those guys go at it! They're showing the 2002 season to whet people's appetites, and there's been some good racing.

Oh, yeah, and their committment to motorcycles, F1, WRC, and other series hasn't changed, as far as anyone knows.

Except they now schedule those around NASCAR.

Why is racing in boring ovals in high gear more popular than road racing? Is this like Top 40? Maybe we'll get lucky and it will die too...

Ya know what's wierd? I turn on the Speed channel a lot, and at very random times. Since I got it a couple of months ago, I have not yet EVER seen any NASCAR related show at all- it's always classic cars, garage shows, some type of open wheel raciing, euro sedan racing, or bike racing. This morning it was 'Legends of Motorsport" showing Jackie Stewart racing Minis around old Ford Cortinas. Excellent.

So i don't know when they show NASCAR stuff, but it's not when I'm watching.

Nascar's heritage comes from the local dirt tracks. Since Speed Channel is based in America, they will broadcast the more popular sporting event and related shows. If Rally was more popular, they'd broadcast that. Nascar is the money maker and allways will be until Rally becomes more popular.

Face it - we are fans of a sport that's not popular in North America. Be glad that any amount of coverage is being broadcasted...

This thread is pure torture.

(and so are all of the others that talk about the speed channel)

I'm home now at my parents, and they've got speed channel. Only 1 more day of it though before I'm back to my cave.

Urrrrrr.......

I love it when speed channel gloats about nonstop NASCAR coverage during the winter. What a farse, if they want to devote that much attention to Nice-Car, then make a new network just for that and another for other speed related items.

At least they cant screw up Dakar too much, I was please last year.

People just like to whine, jamz. See, there are these things called remote controls, and program guides, that many of us use to regulate our viewing habits, rather than just turning on the telly and taking whatever's there.

But I agree with you. Of every ten times that I tune to Speed Channel, I get NASCAR two-three of them.

Can we stop whinning about Nascar on Speed Channel. You guys are worst than 2nd grade classroom. Speed is going to play Nascar- why... because it makes them money. Thats how we get to see BTC, and FIM Superbike and Pro Rally... just close your pie hole and yell into a pillow or something because people like you make treads turn to sucky threads.

I doubt any one of you would want the old Speed Vision back if given the chance. Speed has a much better lineup and better coverage of events.

No way! I prefer no NASCAR, and WRC coverage a month or so after the fact, taken care of in an hour-long wrap-up show. Yep, make mine SpeedVision!

I have been saying all along that the new Speed Channel rules. We get more good stuff than ever before, and they keep adding to the list, most recently live F3000 coverage. As I said back when there were all of the "NASCAR Network" rumors, give them a chance. We have, and they are doing an excellent job at catering to everyone, though I imagine the aviation and boating folks feel pretty left out.

Speed Channel rocks! My only complaint is that they don't do the F1 marathon like they did that one year...

I agree, the european accent from the commentator made it all worth it. Who cares that it was a month later, you knew what would happen, who would win. At least the guy sounded cool. I'd much rather have that then 4 days of it with same day tape delay.
