Talking Who Was At PNE?

Hey, who else was at the PNE autocross Sunday? I saw 2 other Imprezas (blue '98 and blue 4 door '00) there but didn't get a chance to chat with the drivers.
Anyways, RS's took 1st and 2nd in G Stock class. Not bad, even though there were only 8 cars in that class. It was just practice for the next big event at Boundary Bay.

The MY00 sedan would be me. Hehehe...what a lousy first run I did. I'm lying and saying I have no mods in my car next time...talk bout intimidation man...first time I ever run an autocross and I'm in a some class with the words SUPER. LOL...

How fast were you guys today? My best run (only timed run cause I dnf'd first one) was a 53sec.

Hey Ashton, your friend got the pics yet? Orbiter wants to see them...

Hey Keiho, doesn't matter how you did as long as you had fun (that guy in the beater Micra was having fun). It takes a lot of practice before you can really do well, don't give up!
As far as times go, I had a bunch of 48sec runs and that blue '98 had a bunch of 52sec runs but managed to rip off a 50sec run at the end to take second. The next closest car was that SVT Contour I think, he was running 53's.
Next even, April 23rd at Boundary Bay. Much better (bigger) location.

Thumbs up

The April 23rd event is open to everyone (you'll still need a club membership if you don't have one).
As far as I know it's not a novice event, so the fast guys should be out too.
Hopefully there'll be more Subarus out there running! I'll need some help with all those Type-R's.

I believe the event on 23rd is another open practice from BCMA. By the way, even the coming weekend is VCMC Closed Club event, and at the closed club, they start taking reservation for their May's driving school. Novice driver get the higher priority.

As far as I know, for the regional events, you don't really need any club membership, IF you don't care about the championship points.

Angry

Is it just me or is VCMC the only club that has more than 1 'closed club event' per year.
BCMA seems to welcome other clubs to all their events, why doesn't VCMC? I guess we're just not welcome there.....

Below is from Cliff Loh through CACC list answering your question asked by someone.

By your logic, then all club practice events (PCA, 510, Lotus, BMW) should be open to everyone. If that is so then what incentive is there to joining a club other than the CACC requirement for a Solo License? How a club chooses to run its events is not a globally applicable issue. While I appreciate that BCMA holds open practices, VCMC Closed Club events are exclusive to members only. It's not that we're snobs, but it simply reflects a differing philosophy in
driver development. We want to maximize track time for our members and give opportunites for them to really spend time with senior drivers so they can work on the details of driving. Over the years, our practices have become more like "coaching sessions" as an extension to the Driving School. We toyed w/ the idea of developing a Level Two school but people learn and develop at different rates and it's hard to establish a common teaching level.

Anyone is welcome to come and join VCMC. If you are a first time member of the club, your first Closed Club event is free of charge.

Unhappy

I didn't mean to accuse VCMC of being snobs, just wondering why some clubs allow others to their events while others don't. It does make sense in one way, the club members get more bang for their membership buck (events aren't as crowded).
I'm not bitching, as stated, anyone can join VCMC and go to all their events as well as other club's events where they'd be welcome to run.
