I got the car weighed yesterday, its now at 1272kg (2804 lbs), not as light as I was hoping but still a good 60kg lighter than the last time I weighed about a year ago.

I'm sure he's just implying he has a high hp application and is still less weight than most, if not all, cars in this thread.

But I agree... That's not a weight loss post.

Aluminum not stainless, I did my last fuel system with stainless and it was a nightmare doing the bends.

I just bought a roll of tubing and made a flaring tool.

OMGWTFBBQ!

The official weigh-in on the shop food scale. For both sides that's 3.25 lbs!

Then I got to thinking about the captured nut bracket just behind the Rail Fang that's no longer in use for the same reason. It's welded to the front anti-sway bar mounting horn on the front x-brace/engine cradle.

This guy was a bitch to get off. The welds are in funny locations making it difficult to get the grinder in. I eventually had to cut it in two to make the job easier.

Weigh-in. For both that's 1.125 lbs.

Finally welded (GMAW / MIG) the intake runner to the TGV bodies.

Practiced bunches to get it correct. This is my fourth scrap piece. The first three are in the trash.

Wrote every setting down so I could replicate my efforts.

Prepping the work

Beveled and SS wire brushed

Reinstalled everything and it ran great for 120 miles then it blew out one of the JB weld plugs I used to fill the holes where the TGV mechanicals used to go before I ground it all off. Looks like it only had 2 mm of wall thickness to bond to after I finished with the grinder.

**** me? No, **** you car.

So I pulled it all off and plug welded all four of those holes. And the whole things haS held for over 600 miles. Some of those miles included towing a pop up camper trailer from Las Vegas, NV to Flagstaff, AZ.

All to save 2256 grams (4.97 lb) of weight.

Cut some extra plastic tabs off the radiator and fans. 72 grams.

Removed the mesh and emblem from the front of the bumper insert

Saved 179 grams.

Deleted the PCV system. 475 grams to start. 22 g off camera. Yes I tared out the front grill. The hoses wouldn't cooperate and stay put on the scale without it.

Replaced with 129 grams of K&N filters. Saved 346 grams.

Altogether saved 597 grams from the modifications in this post. (1.32 lb for us Yanks)
