Default 30000 Mile Service

Hey guys...its time for my 30000 mile service and I just found out it costs over $500...not thrilled about that at all. This is from the dealer.

Has anyone else done this service yet? Is it worth it? Is there somewhere else to get it done cheaper???

It looks like they are charging $200-300 too much simply to inspect everything.

30000 miles would happen right at Christmas bill time!!!

Buy the parts and do it yourself, mileage services are big time gravy. I wish I had a few today!

500$ for that? What crap; it cost way less for the 30k servicing on my girls 99 civic, and that including brake rotor resurfacing (done at dealership)

I just did mine. It was a total of $460. The good thing about it is that they put in new brake pads and resurfaced the rotors at no cost. They also, put in redline synthetic oil for the transmission. I went through them so that I don't have to hassle them about my powertrain warranty if something came up. The labor itself was $285 though.

Replacing the fuel filter means pulling out the fuel pump doesn't it - which means pulling out the rear seats (in a sedan at least) - I don't spose that's a good one for labour charges?

Maybe get them to drop a Walbro in there "while you're at it"

I've got another 10k to go before this service, spose I should start saving now.

No the fuel filter is mounted on the drivers front strut tower . Very easy to replace.

I'm about to hit 30K. Any good places to get this serviced at besides the dealership?

Too busy to do it myself.

I just had my LAST 3k service, before the grand total of $460 and my 30,000k service. Bunch of BS if you ask me, but they told me if I didn't do it and have it "offically" logged in their system and my books, that my warranty then became VOID....
So, my next question is WHY, I already have mods out the rectum and am about to complete my Stage 4 setup....I think I have neally voided everything then right?

I ended up having them do the things that were actual work...ie I skipped all the inspecting BS. It cost about $250.

Brake fluid, coolant, and fuel filter. I had the oil replaced at another place. It was still a rip off, but I don't feel I got reemed nearly as badly as I could have.

I know this is old, but just was quoted $490 from Gillman North Subaru, and was wanting to know if it really does void the warranty if you don't do it through them, and also if anyone knows of a dealership that does it for cheaper?

I just got my (30,000 mile check up) done at 28,000 miles.. I'm home for the weekend, so this will be my only chance for a while... or at least before winter.

Total cost was $296. and some odd cents..lol

I used my suby bucks and had a 10% off coupon... all good :-)
So techincily all free for me.

If you keep the reciepts from the fluids you buy yourself, you should be able to prove it was done, and not void your warranty.

I got mine done for like $420. But that was with out them changing the oil, air filter and a few other things. I did a few things on my own.

Langston Subaru.. I was quoted $430 over the phone... Told them that I didn't need my oil or brake fluid changed... They told me then $400..

I get there and they do the whole thing and it was $300... :-)

I DID buy my car from them brand new last year (year and ahalf I guess)... so who knows... they have ALWAYS been great and I am more than willing to drive from VA to PA) 250 miles to get to them...

how do you replace the brake fluid yourself, I'm a home mechanic but I can't see any other way to do it without taking to some place with a machine or something.
