Default JDM fashoinable key question

Ok, just brought my JDM silver fashionable key to my local subaru dealership. The guy was wicked cool, cut it for me, and after a couple "fine tunings" got the key to fit in the door/trunk/and ignition. Key will turn over the engine, however is tuff to get back out, and the key will NOT open the doors or trunk.

Car is MY00 RS.

Any ideas? Do I need to file it down anywhere? Or sand it?

It looks alittle thick in places. not sure.

Cheers

Will

Is your key acting like the valet key? The difference between the OEM master key and the valet key is thickness. Your key might be too thin?

The mechanics keys are pretty complicated. Go back to the guy who cut your key and ask for his advice.

Well the master key is thinner than my fashionable key.

So that rules that theory out.

Any one else?

Is the key for a 02 WRX or is it made for the GC8? Just asking because maybe its like the WRX STi key. For the STi key to fit a GC8 the key had to be shaved down to match the thickness. After my key was shaved down the key was still rough to get into the ignition so I just smoothed over the surface with some sand paper very lighty and now it works fine. Hope maybe this helps, Christian.

Yeah, when I left work the other day, I decided to take the new key and just keep jacking it into the trunk lock LOL.

Eventually it went in smooth all the way, and opened the truck perfectly.

Tried the doors and ignition, all worked PERFECT.

Cheers
