Its a hood from Primitive. Great hood but it took a ton of prep work. You can get a good drop in from Gimmie Gears and it will cost ~$150 to install + $300 for the part.

CORRECTION:

Gimmie Gears only sells the drop-in vent part for $150. Most body shops were quoting me $150 to cut and install it.

Note: When I did mine, I had a pretty smashed in hood. If I had to do it over again, I would've bought another OEM hood and done the drop in from GimmieGears.

The issues I have with the Primitive hood are:

1. It doesn't extend all the way to the grill.
2. It flutters around at 70+ MPH speeds or on bumpy highways.
a. Most shops won't put in hood pins for less than $170 because its such a pain to drill.
3. Its hard to paint. Mine is on its way back again to get color sanded and painted AGAIN. It took three coats the first time just to not bubble, and now it has to be repaired again.
4. Everyone who I've read that has recieved this hood has recieved it cracked. If you can drive to Oregon to pick it up...DO IT!

Okay, enough complaining. The good parts:

1. I've never seen anyone else with this hood in my area. Its VERY unique.
a. I get tons of thumbs up from guys on the highway, and more importantly, tons of waves from the chicks. ( The chicks love the gold wheels, too)

I've never seen the Primitive hood. Not to be a smartass, but maybe it's "unique" in your area for those reasons that you listed....from what it sounds like, the hood is garbage, and everyone else seemed to know it....

I've been on the boards for over a year now and I think it's over due to post some pics. Nothing crazy, just nice and simple.

Upgrades: Cobb Stg2 Access Port, Stromung 3" DWG DP, Cobb 3" Catback (gutted stock 3rd cat), Helix Flex UP, Eibach Pro Kit, Whiteline RSB w/ Endlinks, 3SX SS Brake Lines w/ speed bleeders and RBF600 & Rota Tarmac II's.

Thanks for the compliments man!! They are gunmetal rota torques 17 x 8 with Pirelli Pzero Nero MS's 235/45/17's. Im looking to get some Kumho MX's for the nice weather now, but these tires do a great job.

I think ilnmcom is being overly critical of it so anyone looking into getting that hood knows what they will be in for. The fluttering isn't really that bad.

Blue - at one point...

That's how the WRX SHOULD look.

If it's not dirty, you haven't been having enough fun with it.

Yeah. It was a matter of trusting that a known good seller was selling good parts. Paul tends to sell good products, I just have had really bad luck with the hood and aparently so have others.

The actual Prodrive hood is quite a bit more expensive and is made of the same material. I would assume that it could just as likely see similar issues.

That's not the mattjk screen. It doesn't have the LCD receptor in the side, and there've a bezel. Looks like it's just some double din LCD screen.
