Anyone's thoughts on a black roof panel for our gray/silver cars. Ifso how would you go about it? Vinyl wrap.,. What about carbon fiber too???? The above car seems to have it on his 2011...
I'm debating here folks, and respect the opinions of my fellow silver Subie owners! Lemme.know.what.you.think.

So here is what you really need to use if you want it last and look good for a few years: Cast air egress vinyl. You can buy it in colors and select finish (gloss, matte, carbon fiber) - and not use lamination, but laminate is a clear layer that will protect the vinyl underneath. Cast laminate is great insurance (you can then select gloss, luster or matte finish). DO NOT use calendered vinyl - it will shrink. I'm not a fan of carbon fiber vinyl on exterior, but its your ride and do what YOU like). Find a good sign shop in your area that does vehicle wraps and they can hook you up.

I am a Roland Printer Dealer (www.AllSquare.com) and had a sample roll 3MIJ180CV3 and printed nothing but black. Then used a sample roll of 3M8518 Gloss Laminate on top. I removed the roof rails/antenna (good how to: How to remove black roof strips to install a Euro Roof Rack) and this one for removing antenna which is a must for clean install: DIY - JDM RA Rally Roof Vent Install: and paid an installer to lay the vinyl. He charged me about $80. Very happy with the way it turned out and I just used what I had at the office.

Couple more pix, I think it really looks best from front:

It can get very noticeable. Additionally there are many PSM paint codes. My body shop mixed 11 different ones before finding the one that matched mine. Do it right. Get it blended... especially on older paint.
