Question squeaking belt noise from rear of engine bay

my car is making this noise that sounds like a squeaking belt at idle...i replaced the alternator/ps belt thinking that was the problem since it was starting to fray around the edges anyways, but then i noticed it was coming from the REAR of the engine bay. it goes away as soon as i put light pressure on the clutch pedal, just pressing down far enough to take the couple cm of play out of it. so it's not even really pressing on it, just the pressure from resting my foot on the pedal is enough to silence it.

is the the throwout bearing nearing the end of it's life (or some other clutch related thing), or is it something in the engine? i'm also starting to feel this flat/boggy spot starting up off idle, which feels like the clutch slipping; you really can't get underway smoothly below 2000rpm, or the car feels like it's on the verge of a stall.

I have the exact same symptoms on BOTH my cars, including the fact that the noise goes away when you put light pressure on the clutch. I'm replacing the throw out bearing and pilot bearing on Saturday because you might as well do both while you are in there. I just got a new clutch and pressure plate or I'd replace those too. From the sound of it, I'd have a new clutch on hand when you get this done.

throw out bearing would be my best guess as well.

i have a slight squeak now... but i'm on like clutch #100... soon I'll have the replacement warranty clutch installed and hopefully all this garbage will be over with...

subaru's throwout bearings are just straight up junk, i've never seen throwout bearings go after 30k miles but they seem to fail rather freqently on these cars.

yeah, i've had an entire new spare clutch assembly on hand for about 3 months now, since i thought i was going to be putting a lightened flywheel in the car, so no worries there if it suddenly decides to take a dive.

i just was curious if my diagnosis was correct, or if i'd still be suffering from this maddening squealing if i replaced the clutch.
