Default So, are we a real rally team yet? Yummy cage pics...

Mmm...roll cage... The cage is in the Neon and the Impreza will be getting her cage soon! Looks like we'll be running our first ClubRally after Ice Racing season finishes up (and I pick up another Ice Racing season trophy).

Sean,

I would double check the new regs regarding cages. Specifically, the side braces on the passenger compartment.

I can't tell from your photos, but it appears that you are lacking side braces from the main hoop to the A pillars. I believe that an additional brace is required between the main hoop sides to the lower rear hoop.

Otherwise, quite swank!

Yup! The seats and rails were drop shipped to the builder...once the seats go in the cross braces and the door bars get welded. This guy has done NASCAR cages, open wheel car chassis fabrication, dozens of rally cars and all of Tim O'Neil's cars.

Yeah, Brent does good work. I remember working on the car before Maine Forest and he was still welding on the car while we were putting electronics in the car Crazy times.

What are you using for seats? Evo2s?

Kris is putting Forsas into the Neon. I'll be putting Forsa2s or Evo3s into the Impreza.

Kris (in the Neon) and I (in the Impreza) will be doing the NEDIV and Canadian ClubRally series as well as every Ice Race, Rallysprint and Rallycross we can scrounge the money for.

Sean,

When do you guys expect to be ready to race in Canada? Maybe we can work lend a small hand if you need it at service, assuming that we have the room, the spare hands, and the time (which is usually the case, as long as John doesn't wreck Tulip! )

We're still trying to rough out our schedule for the year, but we're shooting to make Rallye de Quebec our first event this year.

No idea about Canada...the primary concern is funds. Kris and I talked briefly about doing Canada but didn't put anything solid together...we haven't even looked at a schedule yet. I think that we'll be making more tentative plans once the new motor gets dropped into the Neon.

How'd I miss this thread?

Sean -- let me know if you find a place locally with the Forza IIs that we can try out... I'll be on the lookout too.

You tried an Evo3 at HMS, right?

Do you need to strip the interior to put in a roll cage? Plus how much did that whole deal cost you guys?

I'll double check, but the number I got from Kris to strip the interior of the Neon and fabricate the cage was "about $2500".

The Evo3s fit me like a glove. My bone structure won't even fit into an Evo2 (yes, I know I'm fat, but it actually digs into my hip bones). Still looking for the Forza II to try out.

I've tried an Evo2... my hip bones don't fit between the part of the seat where it comes back in, so I can't settle myself all the way down into it.

The Forza II has similar measurements to the Evo 2, but the structure is different, and doesn't flare back in at the thighs, so I might still fit in it.

We're racing our Subaru in Open to give the true Open cars someone to beat! ;-) We're planning on making this season one of consistency and steady improvement. Anyone that comes to the races, please look us up! :-)

Cheers! John
