Default Problems with 5th gear HELP

When I'm in 5th cruising down the highway at 60 or 65 mph then floor it everything is fine until about 80/85 mph. At that point the rpm's jump and the drop a few times in a row the car stops accelerating. It then SLOWLY picks up speed from that point on. All of my other gears in the car are fine with no hesitations or slipping. When I race I hardly ever use 5th because the race is over by that point. And the car only does this about 80% of the time. I have 40k on the car with the original clutch but drive well and really don't burn it. I can't figure it out its been doing this for a few days now. I think it is weird because it only does it in 5th. Any suggestions are welcome.

try resetting your ECU first. It sounds like it may be fuel-cutting too low.

clutch is beginning to slip. I will almost gaurantee that. It starts in the higher gears like that. Dont know the technical reason why, but that is what happened with mine.

Your clutch is gone... Time to change it

The technical reason has to do with torque multiplication but whatever...

ah, i thought it was fun and exciting to watch as it trickled down into 4th, 3rd and finally 2nd... Everyday i woke up, i ran to crank my car, wonder, oh, oh how i wonder how bad it will be today.. and when will i come up with the money to fix this sloppy clutch?

Anywho, fix it before you get stuck on a hill. Soon, it will seem as if you are driving around in neutral

Just take it super easy on your clutch or you will risk causing cracks in your flywheel. The same thing happened to me and I just replaced it w/ an ACT clutch kit. When I examined the flywheel, it had started to crack in a few places from the heat. Also when you replace it, try scouring the flywheel with an emory pad.

Your clutch is toast...

Go for an ACT or RPS clutch and a lightened flwheel while you are in there.

Also, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
