Question Turbo: What are you using (and does it do you good?)

Hey, if you are running a turbo, would you mind posting what turbo you are running, what size block, and what fuel/ignition/etc computers you are using.

Like: Garrett T04, S-AFC, ITC, on a 2.0l block. Goes great in 1 and 2, 3 and 4 lags.

Or whatever.

Much appreciated...

Mac

Well, Im probably using the smallest turbo in the club. Its a Mitzubishi TD05-12A-8CM2 on my 2.5L. Im set up for a mild 6psi so the only fuel mod needed was a new fuel pump and FPR (and an IC).

I am very happy with the results! Thanks to Rallispec's custom job, I have a very drivable/fun car with a strong mid-range. I will post times when Atco opens on 3/2/01.

Question

Rich, did your car get finished Dec 30th or so? If it did, I saw it waiting to have my turbo put in. Nice intercooler

T3/T4, EJ25, TEC-II, ~6psi, goes like stink but needs more top end

Thumbs up

Yes its quite sexy isnt it?!
I wanted Andy to sign it because its production number 1. It should be worth millions on Ebay after Rallispec makes it big time.

I'll wait till I have the big bucks before I upgrade my daily driver into 12sec 1/4 mile monster. If not, Im going to need to drive a used Hyundai to get by... and that would suck big time!

Thanks for the compliment Ryan.

I started out with a Minnam kit many moons ago. It has slowly evolved into a RalliSpec setup. Garret T03/T4, 2.5L, Bell RRFPR, S-AFC. The AFC isn't doing too much and is relegated to the glove box.

After the last "upgrade" from RalliSpec, which consists of a new upper IC pipe, 2.5" up-pipe, and 3" down-pipe and exhaust, the car is again transformed. Lag is definitely not an issue. My car pulls very hard and seems to continue to generate more torque and horsepower all the way up to redline.

After I get back from VIR in early April, I'll take my car to Atco to see how it has improved in the 1/4 mile.

Two injectors? Do tell - mounting them in the intake manifold or something? I'm thinking about that, too. Are you using something pre-made to control them, or custom, or ... ???

Thanks!

T3/T4, Spearco intercooler, Rallispec full 3" exhaust, Tech II. Boost, depends on the day. It will be permantely set at 10psi as soon as I relocate my tech boost controller. Right now its about 7psi.

+'s include no lag, goes like stink, looks really cool

-'s include constant exhaust leaks, and blown trannies

2.5 liter Phase II Block
T3 turbine with T4 compressor wheel
2" uppipe
2.5" downpipe
2.5" turbine back exhaust with 2 hi-flow cats and Flowmaster muffler
Vortech SFMU
Vishnu Fuel Pump

Runs very strong at 5psi. I get a few pings when it is warmer outside (> 75 degrees). My Rallispec intercooler should be here in the next week or so, then I will probably run 7psi until it gets hot then back down to 5psi. I am still on the stock clutch as well.

I too started with a minnam kit and have slowly upgraded. i have a t3/t4 with a sparco top mount intercooler. i have an hks evc4 boost controler, hyper afc, overbored stock injectors, holly 255 l/hr pums, vortec fmu pres riser, and lots of other junk. ran a 12.998 on 9 psi, and have only gotten slower with changing things, i need, and recomend some serious computer controle.
