N/A thing similar to blow off valve

Hi, My friend has had a eclipse gsx and gst, and was driving me around. He had a cool bov that made a whistle sound, and then he has one that makes the normal sound like most people have, which is just like an air release noise.

Anyways, he said a while back on some of his forums, he read something about this little air filter device thingy that attaches somewhere near the engine, and its basically the NA equivalent of a BOV, but it realeases air from the engine or exhaust or something.

He said its pretty much useless, but its better than those real fake bov's taht are just speakers that spit out a noise-- he says the ones he read about actually did spit out air from the engine or exhaust, and that is how the noise was created? I guess people were trying to pass off the NA eclipses for gst/gsx'es.

Anyone know about these? Once again, I am not talking about that BOV sound player, but this actually takes in air and spits it out to make a noise. Was what he read just a joke?

i dont kno what it is but it sounds funny.i wanna get one and slap is on the rs and tell my friends i got a turbo just to f#$% with them. lol.

Oh god, riciest thing ever. So ricey that I would in fact buy one, put it on my car, and show up at a meet just to watch people choke (I am the anti-rice in our club)

Here is the thing... In my 2.5i after hard acceleration I actually hear something similar to a blow off noise. Searching the forums I have yet to find the true cause of this noise, but multiple drivers have reported it.

My thoughts were that if I could find where this part goes, it could explain what makes that noise.

Throttle opening and closing? Air getting squeezed thru as the opening in the throttle is getting smaller? Not sure either, just throwing ideas out there. I heard something along those lines with my last car after I put the CAI on.

The sound is actually really loud and was there long before I put my SRI on.
