Default Wax Question

Hey All,

First off, let me say that I hope everyone is off to a good start for the new year. Second, let me tell you how I screwed up my wax job on New Year's Eve. I wanted my car at its best for the new year so I decided to do a wash and wax job on New Year's eve. The problem was I had to run errands all day and I started kinda late. By the time I was wiping off the wax, it started to get dark. To make matters worse, my garage door is broken so I had to try and finish up outside. I thought everything was fine till I saw my car yesterday mid afternoon. As it turns out, I kinda missed alot of spots that I couldn't see in the dark. I tried wiping it off, but the sun had already dried it on. If I gently scratch it with my fingernail it will come off, but there's too many spots that I missed to do it to the whole car. I washed the car today and the problem is still there, but it isn't as bad. The way I figure it is that the extra wax swirls will fade away just like it would if I would were a regular coat of wax. No real harm done except for it's ugly for now right? Any comments would be appreciated.

Ed

If the car is relatively clean, just dust it off and use a quick detailing spray with a microfiber towel. It should get rid of most of the excess wax. However, if there is too much on there, you may have to use a clay bar and rewax...

You should always use a quick detailer or a mist of water with a microfiber towel after you wax. This helps to cure the wax and evens out spots you may have missed.

Never heard of that before. I'll try it next time I wax the whole car. Thanks for the advice.
