Post Does Borla have a "CARB" approved header?

I was wondering if Borla has or will release a header for my 01 2.5rs that is CARB legal. Are there any out there?

Question

I thought someone said they lost their CARB certification? Anyone have the info on this one. Someone convinced me the newest headers are not certified but I sure would like to know the answer to this one.

Wait a minute, just recently someone posted that the version 3 is no longer CARB approved, I asked why and no one responded.

Do you know why?

OK. The gen. 3 headers ARE NOT CARB APPROVED.

Borla's note (as of 10/3/00):
"NO C.O PLATE; CHANGE DESC. OFF ROAD USE ONLY"

I have them. This is what it says on the system diagram sheet.

So stronger welds make a part illegal ! *** is up with that.

So be it...but I still don't get it.
What in the design changed?
Stronger flanges, and better welds shouldn't affect CARB certification.
