Default CEL for a month....now no more CEL

i had a P0420 for about a month, it came on when the weather started getting cold out. i have an uppipe + TXS exhaust with single cat. CEL stayed off all summer and fall and came on last month

it just turned itself off 2 days ago. now i'm wondering...does this mean the warmer (not really but kinda) weather caused it to correct itself? or is this the ECU's way of saying "hey im tired of keeping this light on but i still know theres something wrong"

if i get inspected will there be a 'hidden' CEL or something that shows them somethings missing?

I believe those codes are stored in the memory of the ECU. The light may go out, but the code will still be there unless you have them cleared.
