Question EMI surging in 1st gear

Hi all,

For those with the EMI adapter, are you folks experiencing surging in 1st gear from 1500 to 3500 rpm's? I can do this repeatedly. Leaving the line at about 30%, the car surges like it's trying to buck you off. Not so smooth and attracts attention in the wrong way. I've noticed when I slip the clutch slightly to @2000 rpm the surging disappears.

However, from 3k rpm's and up it seems very smooth from 3rd gear up. So it seems to have solved the common surging but now has caused a surge in 1st. I'll triple check the wiring.

I think shiv has addressed this and the use of an alternate jumper should probably be tried on your car. Give him a call and see for sure though. Mine had a similar problem that was in fact a loose throttle wire going to the throttlebody. dont know how that happened as I never monkeyed with it but the EMI made my car super smooth

MP5-Thanks for the tip... I talked to Shiv and I shouldn't have had any links installed. I prevously had it on "LK3" now without it it runs much smoother. Thanks Shiv...

So Shiv... should we not use any of the jumpers? I read the instructions and put the jumper on Link3 because I figured I might as well keep the fuel cut (stock turbo)... I haven't had any surging... but should I take the jumper off or what?

Thanks,
Chip
