Talking Just got back from a 50 mile test drive of my MRT header back system.

Well to start off the muffler can came with a few little dents in it and after I put it on I noticed that the tip has a nice little ding in it. The paint was scratched a little and the welding and flanges seemed to be a little cheap. The inside of two of the flanges were a little crooked and it came with no gaskets. I had to re-route the second O2 sensor and give it a little slack by cutting one of the harness clips. I started at 5:30 and was done at 10:30. It could have been done quicker with another person and a lift type rack. After BOTH O2 sensor stripped themselves on the way out I had to wrench them into the MRT pipes but luckily they both had some tread that was not stripped to hold them in perfect. I had to go to Kragen and buy a 60's buick donut gasket thing to fit the cat to midpipe flange. I put it all together, dollied it under the car, and bolted things up. It was pretty simple but a pain in the... for five hours of grinding knuckles. All said and done it was worth every penny. After a cloud of paint smoke burned off I went out for a drive. They give a definite punch that actually jerks your neck and the car pulls way better at all speeds. If my brospeed was quite than the MRT exhaust is loud. It has a nice tone but at 2500 it growls and seems to be pretty smooth after that. Not too loud but definately loud enough for others to hear. I went to the parking garage downtown and the exhaust/header/intake combo rumbled the garage when I floored it, so sweeeeet. The headers sound so awesome I almost want to take my intake off to hear them fully. They make a little rumble that was not there before. After a fifty mile drive in the backroads it seems to just punch it a lot better and just purrs along when you cruise.
Despite the little issues they are great. Hopefully I won't be seeing any check engine lights. I got them from Irvine Subaru and it took about two weeks to get the whole thing straightened out. What is next on my list? Maybe Cams in the future or abort N/A and go turbo. Probably stiffer suspension.
Oh yeah, I will have some 1/4 mile results on Wednesday. My best with Cobb intake and brospeed was 15.9. That is weak if you ask me. Hopefully mid fifteen.
