Before buying the magnecors, I did my research and knew getting them seated properly was key.
Anyway, after battling with these wire's for two months, 1 or 2 would keep popping off after about every 100 miles, I started to wonder if they were the wrong size....blah blah blah. So I read all the threads again, asked a few questions, verified correct part numbers etc. Anyway, I decided to pop some new spark plugs in and I found my problem. Two of the spark plugs were wayyyyyyy beyond lose....Suprise Suprise, same two plug locations that the wires kept popping off of. So Moral of the story: 1) Properly torque your spark plugs 2) Magnecor's are indeed fine if installed properly. Just blasted up and back to Squaw valley yetserday and 480 miles later the wires are on there just like they should be. Cheers, Chris

I had a terrible problem with the magnecore wires that I bought. They would pop off within 5 minutes. Yes, that is right. New plugs were installed at the same time. I took the car to a dealership and to a subaru mechanic. They still popped off. We even tried taking the plugs out. Shoving them into the boots, then screwing the plug in while attached to the wire. We tried to adjust the inside of the wire. Hell, we tried everything. Nothing worked. I sent them back to magnecore and bought a set of Nology wires.

This seems to be a common problem lately. I have also just recently started having problems with my Magnecor wires coming off. I check my spark plug torque on a suggestion from Steve and Magnecor and they were fine. I did not have this problem with my last plugs, but I do now. Not sure what do to.

I was literally ready to put the stock wires back on before I found the problem with mine. I just went out and checked and mine are still nice and snug after 600 miles now. Very happy now, but I totally understand the frustration with them popping off.
Good luck. hmm I wonder if it has to do with the indivdual plug tops... I thought most were all the same little connectors up top. FWIW I'm giving the NGK Iridium's a try right now. |

Yup, I had the same problem and read all the threads, etc. I just ended up pushing the H out of the boot tops until my face turned red. Plugs have stayed on for about 300 miles so far. Fingers Crossed.

I've probably got 8k on mine. Never had a problem... just seated them in place, and then hit them with the ball of my hand pretty good. They did click on, but they took a good hit to do it. The problem is that their boot/connector is about 1/4" too short, but rubber does flex, and with the right pressure, they'll click on just fine.

I took them off and put the stock ones back on after my recent run of electric problems, but am now not sure if that was the problem in the first place, and am trying to fight (too lazy) the urge to put them back on
. IIRC the problem with the magnecore wires was the shape of the boot, that it wasn't 100% correct, and that's why some people had trouble, especially with putting them on. I dunno. Seems like a lot of trouble for a part that really isn't gonna do anything for the performance. |
