Everybody on the imprezasti.com forum seems to think this guy "Worm" walks on water, yet not one thing he has said has ever been proven correct. If it's a 2.5 with DCCD this guy ought to be the first one to have to do "penance". Hehehe. Rock on. Let it rip. We gonna get us a rip-roaring machine!

Talk about a last minute reversal!! Holy crap!!

No matter what happens now, I think his 'crystal ball' is cracked...

Well I'll just say that the 2.5L rumor has been around for a while now... look back at some of the threads in this forum...

I don't think it's as far fetched as it may sound.

Here's a question.

Since the JDM STi is a 2.0 liter motor...will people be swapping the JDM motors in? Or will people in Japan be swapping USDM STi motors in?

I wonder what the trends will be

I agree that it's not too farafetched, but I think it's not good for "worm's" credibility to be changing his mind hours before the announcement. Anonymous covers a lot of bases.

as a matter of fact... yes.
but that doesnt change the fact that the STi Impreza's have been 2.0 turbos in the past...
and very very likely will continue to be.

why would fuji alter it's design just for the good ole boys stateside?

I tend to agree with Jamie on this one. I've paid little attention to the STI, but why spend all that money on a limited production run for a single market?

Also, has anyone seen the new issue of CAR magazine? I picked up a copy yesterday. In the current issue they have a first drive in the new style. They discuss the changes that FHI has made to the 2.0 powerplant and the fact that DCCD is also on this model. Check it out, its a great read with good photographs.

Why would they change it to a 2.5 turbo then they woldnt be able to rally, isnt the limit 2.0 litre in the types of rallys that they run???

Paul Hansen stated in one of the threads that FHI admitted they had a 2.5T on the shelf that *could* be used for something.

I still believe both a 2.0L and a 2.5L will be available for the USDM STi, while the 2.5L STi will probably be a limited edition Impreza, as I posted before in another thread. This new 2.5L, if we indeed do get it in the STi, is probably a motor that Subaru was planning to introduce in the upcoming Legacy. But due to the Mitsu's Evo release, Subaru wanted to ensure the North America market that the Impreza STi would be considered top-dog over Mitsu's 271hp 2.0L Evo.

The Evo has been generally considered a better performer than the STi around the world, until perhaps the recent release of the 2003 JDM STi with twin-scroll turbo. But I think Subaru couldn't finish meeting US emissions and safety regulations with the twin-scroll in time for the USDM MY04, so we should see the twin-scroll 2.0L as the sole Impreza powerplant option starting next model year.

We'll know for sure soon!

Cheers-

Now wouldn't the JDM/EDM folks cry foul if we get a 2.5 turbo with DCCD....

Is there somewhere that describes what this is and what the advantages are? I've never even heard of this before STI/EVOs.. Thanks!
