Hi there,
OK, here's my problem. I have a 99 2.5rs. I bought the borla header and before i install it i wanted to take care of an oil leak. It seems that oil is leaking from the front seal on the engine. I'm not sure exactly what the part is called and i do have some pictures (at home) that i will post up on it. I was just putting this out there in case someone has had a similar problem. The leak is behind the plastic cover behind the pulleys on the front of the engine. directly in front of the oil pan. I see that there is a black rubber gasket (or seal) that is about .25" thick... i'm seeing that it's starting to sag and be loose in a couple of places. You'll see in the pics. But the oil leaks out very slow and blows back and get's on the headers and smokes a lil when it warms up from the hot exhaust... It stinks and is rather annoying. I've never had a leaky car so this needs to stop. But if anyone knows what i'm talking about can you post up the part and how much is involved in fixing it. Thanks. I will post up the pics later this afternoon.

How many miles? I wouldnt worry too much, the leak you describe is perfectly normal. Usually the seals that cause your leak are replaced at the time of the timing belt replacment, since everything has to come apart anyways.

Yeah, i did this a lil backwards and posted up before i searched the forums. Seems like it is the Crank seal and it's not that big of a deal to change. I'm going to do the timing belt this week so i'm going to go ahead and do it all at once.
For quick reference can you let me know what all is needed for the timinig belt on my 99. Thanks! |
