Please, Please, Please, make the rear wing a deletable option. You can even charge me a couple hundred to delete it.
Thanks ![]()

You could just take it off and sell it to someone with a 02 or 03 wrx.

Thanks for the offer. If they don't make it a deletable option, I will be trading with someone. |

This is a pretty good question. I think Fuji is sensitive to the styling issue, but the bottom line is that a car with this much performance needs downforce.
The EVO will have a low-wing option. (and no wing?) |

I'm pretty sure people will trade you their trunk with the small spoiler for your trunk with the wing. Or you could sell you wing and buy a painted trunk
Personally i like the wing. Makes me feel like i'm back to asia. The way of though on sports car is so differnt everywhere in the world. |

I am a fan of the big wing. It is there for a reason if you tend to get up to high speed (who in their right mind if buying an STi wouldn't) as stated it's mean't to pull you back to earth. I'd put my safety in the hands of the automotive engineers, afterall these guys are real driving enthusiasts! This brings back the thoughts of a topic, I want different brake caliper colors, I just don't like gold and the wife can't stand it; they're Brembos who cares what color they are, enough said.
We'll leave it at that. |

When introduced, the TT had no spoiler. After a few high speed stability related crashes, Audi had to add the wing to impart the stability. I think Subaru would be sensitive to exposure to ninny related law suits, and so the wing will stay.

I think the big wing is an important functional and psychological part of the WRX STi for the USA ... but, that's just my opinion. I'm using a Zero/Sports wing on my WRX, it's pretty big, but it's functional, and my WRX is modified enough that I really do need the balanced and improved front and rear downforce at higher speeds. Think about the MKIV iteration of Supra when it first came out in 93.5 ... the NA was available without wing, the Twin Turbo only came with wing. What I'm more suprised about with the new flavor of STi is how large the scoop on the hood is. That thing is huge!

The WRX has been tested and wrung out, sans wing, up to its 140 mph limits. It is sold here with the wing as an option. Unless the top speed of the STi is dramatically faster, and even if it is, there is no valid reason for that car to have a picnic table on its trunk as a necessity. A wingless STi isn't going to fly off the road because its performance is so prodigious.
A "wing delete" option would, I'm sure, make many other people consider ownership of the car. I think that you'll see many an STi owner swapping trunks with WRX owners. It's inevitable. Kevin |

The TT problem was discovered on the Autobahn, at speeds well over 100. They fixed it with a tiny little spoiler. The STi wing is surely functional, I'm not arguing that. But, probably only really useful well above 100. I'm totally willing to trade a little extra stability (understeer) over 100 for losing the attention factor, even if it means trading down to the standard WRX wing to fill the holes, or trading trunks, as someone suggested.
But, the Evo gets a small wing option (I'm not sure about the no wing option) and it would be nice to have the option on the STi, from the factory. |

Man if you don't want the STi wing....I'll sure as hell take it! I'll pay for shipping, plus I'll send you my stock trunk if you want it!
