Default Most powerful 4 cyl ever in US??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but who (other than perhaps Lotus) has offered anything at or greater than 300/300? Even if someone has, this has to be in the top 5. to SOA.

*now lets hope the tranny holds together and the engine downs't have any cooling issues

edited to correct title

You mean 4 cylinder didn't you? I don't know - I don't recall anything 4 cylinder came stock with this kind of power figure. Not even the Porsche in the old days I don't think...

The microsite states that the STi 2.5t is the most powerful 4-cyl ever offered in the US.

Gonna go ahead and correct myself here. The microsite says it's the most powerful 4-cyl available in the U.S.

i believe the whole reason they went with 2.5L is to give us power without the high octane they have access to. makes sense, an engine with more power to start with will make more power on less boost. less boost = less octane. and since the US has no hp limits, why not see how much it can make?

direct quote:
"For example, the 2.5-liter turbocharged powerplant is the largest displacement engine ever installed in a WRX STi model and is exclusive to the North American market. This unique engine provides strong torque characteristics at both low and high rpm. It is the most powerful 4-cylinder engine available in the US."

Sorry a bit OT, .... but will it have the up pipe cat too? Anyone know? I can see the 2 after the turbo in the frame pic.

This is easily fixed however!
