No more rally car...

Thumbs up What about the STi Type RA (or Type C?)?

Are we ever going to get this beauty? I want a 300hp car with no power windows, stereo or any other useless junk like that!

It already come without radio - but at this point, don't ask for too much yet. Praise SOA for bringing one of the most powerful STi over here (if not the most). Sure you might want the weight savings of the Spec C, but right now, SOA wants to see sales figures first.

With the spec STI North America is getting you can bet that any competition versions will not be for general sale. That is they will sell them to rally teams that need to run FIA spec.

The Type RA's don't use the 2.5L, so I doubt we'll see one. We get race glass for the rear window and no stereo anyway.

It wouldn't be for day to day driving... eh, I'll give it a few more years and see if they step up! They have certainly made a huge step today!

Alleggerita - How is something that a rally team could buy not for general sale? That's exactly why I'd want one, once I have a team. I guess you mean that it wouldn't be for street use, i.e. you couldn't go to your dealer and pick one up, it would have to be for competition purposes only. It would be nice if they at least made it easier to get an RA into the country.

I personally would love to have the Type RA Spec C because I already do without all the "amenities" that most car companies think we want. I don't use my AC even though I have it available, mainly for gas reasons, but also because I think that if you can't handle the heat, there's something a little wrong with you. I also don't have a radio, and prefer to go on long road trips without one whenever possible because it promotes conversation and nobody is pissed at the choice of music. Sound deadening? Who needs it. No trunk floor? Heck, it's easier to wash out, plus you can fit a little bit more crap in it So yes, I would love to have the Type RA Spec C, especially if they offered a "regular" WRX version. Instead of having to take all that stuff out myself I'd get it done for me already, and maybe for, ohhh, 22,000? 21,000 with steelies? Yeah, I'd take one in white

Is the RA REALLY WORTH it though? I think the last RA only weighed like 66 lbs. less than the regular STi and it didn't have a radio or A/C. the radio and A/C are to important to me to give up over 66 lbs.

Plus, the close ratio 6-spd will give you horible gas mileage that not many people will want. I hate a really high rpm on the freeway.

The only thing I'd really like to see from a Type RA at this point is the gear ratios!

It'd be awesome if this STi's 2nd gear doesn't top out at 62mph just to make great 0-60 times or better EPA gas mileage. It should be geared for maximum performance!

Not I'll be getting one anytime soon... But I'm looking out for you guys!
