Default what does the sti mean to 2.5 NA motor owners?

So does this mean that our blocks will be compatable with the wrx sti parts? Does this mean that we can turbo our cars with parts from crashed stis? this will be AWESOME if it works!

IM excited to find out...

I very much doubt it

There is ALOT of changes in that engine to make sure it survives 300hp

How are you going to install AVCS? It is almost impossiable and might cost you as much as an STi engine.

thats variable valve timeing right?

in the past you can put different heads on blocks for example i know volkswagen dudes who have put the 20 valve 1.8t head on the 8valve 2.0 block cus they are the same block with a different bore ect...

from what info seems to comming out - forget it

different heads & associated electronics

different block all together - more like the older 2.2 liberty engines than the RS so using the heads would be questionable

different crank, rods, pistons etc

so much that I suspect it would be simpler to buy a new crate engine rather than all the parts.......

Thats why you just go with a full drivetrain swap. Engine and tranny, and ECU. Mmm.... GC8 RS with a 300hp/300 torque engine and a 6 speed. That thing would HAUL. It would cost a pretty penny though.

I just want the trany to work. That's all I'm worried about. I can build up my motor enough to make me happy. But 2000 on gears for the trany that I have just don't make since.

swap and N20. gone. : (

Regardless of a semi-closed block, I'm willing to bet that you can swap all the internals into an open deck EJ25.

However, I am curious if you can buy a short block (like the EJ22T) for a cheap price. OR, just the new low compression pistons and swap them into the EJ25 block. If so, I might just buy the pistons and swap them into my block.

And about the heads, just swap your heads onto the block and do without the variable valve timing.
