Actually, you should thank all the pre-2002 RS owners... without us, the WRX wouldn't even been here in the first place...

Hey man, I was just happy ot own a WRX. Never dreamed the STi would come this fast or so dominant. Kinda feel like a 2.5RS owner before the WRX came out. But it's all Subaru and rally bred performance and it's all good. Remember the WRX made the C&D top ten two years in a row. Personally, when something like a B4 Wagon comes to town, that's where I'll be.

Actually you need to thank all of the BC-BF legacy owners. Without it subaru would have NEVER been able to compete as well as they did, which was THE reason the impreza was introduced in the first place.

Now that I think about it you can thank me, I own two of the above mentioned cars and will soon own a third .

The Legacy was the FIRST GROUP N CAR TO EVER FINISH SAFARI RALLY. The impreza was only created later to improve the rally ability.

http://www.subaru-global.com/about/h...ml#subhead-001

In 1990, the first year that Subaru fully participated in a WRC, it took part in the WRC's most groueling rally, the 38th Safari Rally. Subaru entered five Group-A specification Legacy cars and one Group-N specification Legacy car. At the start of this rally, there were 59 contenders. Of these, only 10 cars made it over the unforgiving conditions to the goal in Nairobi. Despite this being the Legacy's first time in a rally, the driver, Jim Heather-Hayes, and co-driver, Anton Levitan, came in overall sixth, and Patrick Njiru and David Williamson placed eighth overall, finishing in first place in Group N. Up until that race, the harsh Safari conditions and the fact that Group N cars were permitted almost no modifications meant that cars in this class had continually failed to complete the course. That year, the Safari Rally experienced one of the worst conditions in the history of the race. Yet, for the first time ever, a Group-N car crossed the finish line.

thank you and good night.

No denying that we put our money where our mouth is. The WRX was the real test market, not a car with a body kit.

Subaru themselves even stated that the 98-01 2.5RS was the test market for the WRX.

who cares what car was the first one to test the market, and if you, or someone else had it. no one on this board brought the wrx over. it was subaru with there marketing, right timing...o and if you really want to think about it all them ricers on the streets, fast and the furios, street racing hype all that is what made CAR companies think "hey theres a market to touch in on. these kids are goingto grow up and want the cars the could never have but now can oford them" so before you guys start shankin each others hands, or trying to make it seem your a origanal subaru owner who started it, and helped get the sti here think about subaru just wanting to make money.
