Pricing to come out in Mid-May?!!

During the chat they said that the price of the STi won't be released until mid-may? are they f-in kidding?!

I saw that, too, in a response by a Subaru representative to a brucelee question during the Petter Solberg chat at Edmunds.

P.S. Good job, brucelee. It's not easy to pry info like this out of SoA.

P.P.S. At the end of the chat, someone else asked why SoA was waiting until May to set STi pricing. The Subaru Representative's response was: "The car will not be available for 5 months and final pricing is being established... you WON'T be disappointed!"

and the cars are arriving in april?

so those that pre-ordered will have to pay a "dealer" set price in april?
or maybe those lucky ppl will get them for free

2004 WRX, RS and TS models arrive in March or April. Sti is for a summer release. Its all on the Impreza.subaru.com site if you look around.

Mid-May? I can believe this...

SOA is going to be doing a hella lotta market research between now and launch date to establish exactly what the market will bear for this level of performance. We are in M3 territory here.

If the purported numbers of 4-5k cars annually is true, they can make the STi a performance flagship to drive sales of the WRX line and pretty much charge what they like for it. Kind of like the M3 is to the 3 series line. It will be 2003/4 Car of the Year in just about all of the Auto mags again, and a great press/hype tool.

No, the new 2.0 JDM STi was already past M3 territory. This is even farther above.

I hope everyone realizes this:

1. First year on a hot new car - you will pay a surcharge because the demand is really high.

2. Inevitably the second year the hottie is out, it's cheaper and improved.

Not to throw cold water, but a just a word to the wise.

Oh he!!, buy one anyway!

Looks like my M3 is gonna be my daily driver and STi is a weekend warrior(Maybe)

, but the STi will be a better performer though.

Tho I don't post much, this is the first time I'll disagree with anything you've said. Tho the performance level of the STi will be on par with that of the E46 M3 (unless it's wet or snowy), the luxury level of the car is no where near the level of BMW. That fact will have to keep the price down. It's still a car based on the most inexpensive Suby offered.

That said, my next car purchase will be a Suby, to replace the BMW I currently own.
