Default what's up with that Collapsible pedal?

From the web site looks like is going to break when a head on collision occur.

Yes. Most of the safer car manufacturers have this (Saab etc).

Don't worry, if you hit something hard enough to break it, you have other problems to worry about beyond the pedal breaking.

Is this something that the 2002/2003's didn't have? When my WRX (2003) was totalled in a head on collision, my clutch and brake pedals went to the floor (because I was standing on them!) and stayed there.

You know, Renault just did a concept car this year that doesn't even have pedals for safety. It's like playing GT3 with the wheel and no foot pedals. Gas and brake on the wheel is supposed to help reaction time as well. Keep playing the games boys, because one day, we may no longer even have pedals. Seriously.

The 02 doesn't have it, not sure about the 03.

Like I said it is pretty common now.
