Exclamation

Yes, I get that all the time. A kid in the McDonalds drive-thru asked me the other day.

And don't even try to explain it to them. Especially if you have a 2001 like me. They say,"What year is that then?" You tell them it is a 2001, and they think your lying or something. Bah, I say. From now on it is a WRX.

Talking

I had a similar expierience the other day in a drivethru Mcdonalds. I was there with my girlfriend and the guy taking money asked me if it was a wrx. I said no and explained what it was. He then proceded to tell me that he's seen me around town and has tried getting up next to me at a light to race. I said "oh really, what do you drive so I can watch for you?'" his responce "see that saturn back there" my responce "oh ok cool"
30 seconds later as I pull away my GF bust out laughing and she doesn't know crap about cars but knows enough. We laughed a lot. From what I've read there isn't much you can do to a saturn to make it fast. It was a good laugh though. I'm fairly confident my RS can woop on some saturn.

I had a guy ask point at the RS and say "Is that your car?" Then proceeded to talk about how cool it was. Then he asked about the new WRX and then told me that the new one had "nothing on that one" (again pointing at my car). I tried to explain the RS's lack of a turbo but he didn't care. He just thought the old body style looked better.

I guess, coming from a guy in a big Chevy pickup, that's a compliment.

That is what I thought you guys would say. It is not worth explaining to people because they will not understand if they can not tell the whats different between the two (head lights maybe). I work at a car audio shop and am asked at least once a day and some times 3 times a day. I am conistering getting a personalized plate that says NOTAWRX

I was a substitute teacher for Seattle Public School and a few weeks ago I was subbing at Garfield HS. I was walking about the class just after lunch, just before 4th period. I overheard a bunch of boys talking about the WRX in the parking lot. They were trying to decide if it really was one or not. So nonchalantly, I walked up to them and said "That is a 2000 RS, not a WRX" Lets just say the kids were shocked and wanted to know how I knew. I said that is my car; the Silver RS. Lets just say that I just became the coolest teacher they knew.

sadly enough, I was asked the same question at a Subaru dealership, by one of the salesmen, as a WR Blue WRX sat on a lift in front of him.

I just stared for a second.

Yeah, I've been asked that a lot. I've even been complimented by a kid in a Krispy Kreme drive thru and he offered me 2 dozen donuts for my car. LOL

Brainwalker - Sure laugh now, but I have a buddy that will be running as fast as the stock WRX's with his Saturn in a few months. They're light... 2500lbs. with driver, so it makes a big difference.

A friend of mine had a Saturn SL2, and boy could he drive the snot out of that thing. Ran a close second to Dale Teague for best oversteer in a FWD car. Of course, he didn't have those 580 treadwear tires, either...

I couldn't possibly count the times I've been asked that question. Along with "is it turbocharged?"- no, "is it all-wheel drive?"- yes, "do you like it"-............no, I bought it because I hate it. I don't mind though, it's great to see people showing interest.

Some guy at a Drive thru told me his friend has an RS with Nitrous that they "got up to 175mph the other night"

I just smiled and laughed inside... I guess it's possible, but not without a new gear box or reprogramming the rev limiter... all things considered, I doubt it...
