Does the STi come with the nice looking 10-spoke BBS wheels? The brochure says that it does!

as far as anyone knows, the standard wheels will be the same "normal" STi 17" wheels with the 5 twin-spokes, as seen in this picture :

http://www.digital-lucidity.com/foru...1041746741.jpg

the wheels which are on the car from the Detroit Show :

http://autoshow.msn.com/autoshow2003..._side_rear.jpg

are forged 18" BBS which are available in Japan on the Spec-C model (and perhaps the normal STi, I dunno, doesn't matter for this discussion).

just as the RC-like BBS wheels are a dealer option in the US on the WRX, the Spec-C wheels will likely be an option on the STi in the US.

there is some confusion created by the fact that the brochure scans - http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=297627 - indicate "17-inch BBS wheels" and elsewhere in the press releases there are references to as "forged BBS wheels".

I've never seen the 5 double-spoke wheels refered to anywhere as being made by BBS (and it would seem foolish to not highlight the use of wheels from a respected manufacturer) so I suspect there's a bit of mixing of optional & standard equipment by the press release writers & added confusion due to the brochure statements.

I guess it's possible that there is going to be a 17" version of the Spec-C wheels, but that seems unlikely.

Ben
will look closely at the wheels & take pictures at the auto show tonight...

I hope that they are optional to lower the price of the car. It would probably be a $2500 option.

IIRC, the wheels are 17x7.5.

Thanks!!

That wouldn't be great for the SCCA Stock class racing, and maximum size tire is going to be limited to probably 225s. Although, some people ran 245s on even smaller rims, so you never know. The car does get a bit squishy with too wide tires and narrow wheels.

Oh well!
